But Neesham, 30, says his left ring finger is as ‘good as new’ after undergoing surgery.

He suffered the injury during a domestic T20 game in New Zealand.

He was fielding off his own bowling for Wellington against Canterbury in the Super Smash tournament.

But Neesham now hopes for a quick return in early February for the latter stages of the tournament after surgery.

He suffered a compound dislocation – which is where the dislocation is so bad that it it broke the skin.

Neesham shared before and after shots of the surgery and even a pic of the X-ray.

He tweeted: “Just to clarify to everyone asking, I underwent a minor procedure last night to make sure my finger is still in good shape. Thankfully it was.

“The aim is to be back in time for the Super Smash finals in early February.”

And the X-ray of his finger didn’t look too great either
But Neesham says his finger is ‘good as new’ and is targeting a return within weeks

Neesham has played 12 Test matches for New Zealand – the last back in 2017.

He has also featured in 63 one-day internationals for his country and 24 T20 clashes.
