Man Utd star Diogo Dalot slammed after ‘disastrous’ display for AC Milan in shock Spezia loss putting transfer in doubt

MANCHESTER UNITED’S Diogo Dalot may have scuppered the chance of landing a permanent move to AC Milan.

The 21-year-old Portuguese star is currently at the San Siro on a season-long loan from the Red Devils.

Diogo Dalot had a nightmare in his latest appearance for AC Milan

SunSport reported last month that the Serie A side were contemplating making the switch a full-time deal and had already begun talks with United.

Now the defender seems more likely to return to Old Trafford after he was fiercely criticised for his disastrous performance in the Rossoneri‘s loss to lowly Spezia over the weekend.

Dalot made just his fifth start in the league for Milan, but their shock defeat was one to forget for the youngster.

The Italian media did not hold back assessing his display, with Milan Live saying he had a ‘largely negative performance, which was rejected by everyone’.

But that was tame compared to others, with Milan News describing his display as ‘disastrous’ and ‘horrible’ while Sky Italia pundit Stefano De Grandis dubbed him ‘the worst’ player in the game.

He added: “It is not the first time that Dalot has not shown himself up to par.

“Apart from the San Siro match against Europa League opponents Sparta Prague, in which he scored a goal and an assist, his performances have never been really positive.”

SunSport understands Milan had made early contact with United to see if a move can be brokered for the summer.

Dalot is happy in Italy, and it is believed he would be open to extending his stay with the club whether on loan or permanently.

But the Red Devils are yet to make up their mind on his future, and have been keeping a close eye on his progress in Serie A.

Now he looks likely to return to United unless his performances dramatically improve.

Dalot has just two-years left on his Old Trafford deal at the end of this campaign, with the option of a further 12-months.

United have been making sure their youngsters are tied down to longer-term contracts recently, to protect their transfer valuation.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has impressive options in the full-back area, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka having an impressive season on the right.
