The jockey-turned-trainer is said to have also suffered a fracture

Scott has also suffered a fracture but doctors were at least able to stabilise him before putting him in an induced coma, say Racing.com.

The accident happened at Scott’s Morning training facility, next to the racecourse which lies about 30 miles south of Melbourne.

Fellow trainer Pat Carey said: “Brett and the Scott family are an integral part of the fabric here at Mornington and we’re all just crossing our fingers and hoping he’s OK.

“He’s extremely well-liked and we’re all here to support him and his wife Kylie during this time.”

Australian Trainers’ Association CEO Andrew Nicholl said: “All our thoughts are with Brett and his family, it’s still very early in the situation and we should have more information on his condition in the coming hours.”

It was reported that Kylie and the couple’s children were being driven to the hospital to be by his side.

Scott has trained 86 winners since hanging up his whip in 2012.

Just last weekend he celebrated victory for Toogoodfortoorak, while stable star Irish Flame won last November’s £280,000 Ballarat Cup.

But he is best known for his performances as a Jump jockey.

Scott won the Nakayama Grand Jump in Japan – one of the world’s richest races – three years in a row from 2005.

Those career-defining victories in the £1million contest come aboard the Pearse Morgan-trained Karasi.
