Streaming Service Shakes Up Sports Lineup
Amazon Prime has made a bold move by announcing that it will no longer broadcast Premier League matches, instead focusing on a new deal with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). This shakeup will see the streaming service exclusively stream boxing events live starting in 2024.
End of an Era for Showtime
PBC, founded by Al Haymon in 2015, has struck a deal with Amazon Prime to take over boxing broadcasting rights, effectively ending US broadcaster Showtime's 37-year reign in the sport. Amazon Prime Video will distribute PBC's pay-per-view events and exclusively stream a PBC Championship Boxing series in the US and select countries.
Expanding Sports Content
Not only will Amazon Prime be showcasing live boxing matches, but it will also continue to expand its Original sports content offerings. Viewers can look forward to behind-the-scenes docuseries and on-demand access to previous events and highlights.
With this groundbreaking move, Amazon Prime is making a statement in the sports broadcasting world and proving that it is willing to take risks to attract a diverse audience. Fans of both football and boxing will be eagerly watching to see what other surprises Amazon Prime has in store.
