Andy Ruiz Jr planning for ring return in January and wants Tyson Fury, Wilder, Usyk, Whyte or Joshua trilogy in 2022

ANDY Ruiz Jr has the world’s top heavyweights in his sights as the Mexican fighter targets a January return to the ring.

The 32-year-old named Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Oleksandr Usyk, Dillian Whyte AND an Anthony Joshua trilogy as potential future fights.

Ruiz has not fought since May of this year
And after his sensational victory over AJ in New York almost three years ago, Ruiz fancies taking on another giant of the heavyweight division

Originally Ruiz was targeting Polish fighter Adam Kownacki – but that now looks unlikely after two defeats on the bounce for the heavyweight.

Ruiz though still insists there’s plenty of options for his next bout set for January.

Speaking on the Last Stand Podcast, Ruiz said: “We’re still looking but the door is open and there’s so many opportunities right now.”

And after Fury’s stunning victory over Wilder in Las Vegas, Ruiz has revealed he backs himself to come out on top against The Bronze Bomber.

On the possibility of fighting him, Ruiz said: “Yes I do, and I think that would be an amazing fight me against Deontay Wilder.

“We’re both part of the same team, and it’s just business.”

“I wouldn’t mind getting in the ring with him, I’m sure I could beat him.”

Ruiz also went on to namedrop Fury, Usyk, Joshua and Whyte as potential opponents.

But after he laboured to victory over Chris Arreola back in May, Ruiz is unlikely to get a shot at the elite heavyweights anytime soon.

His fight against Arreola was Ruiz’s first time back in the ring since being beaten by Anthony Joshua in July 2019.

The 40-year-old veteran forced Ruiz to take a knee in the second ground before the former unified champ secured victory via unanimous decision.

And boxing fans on Twitter seem to think he’s not on the same level as the likes of Fury and AJ, with one saying: “I like Andy, good guy, but he doesn’t stand a chance. Hate to say it”

Meanwhile another claimed: “Just the 6 fights that he won’t be getting then.”

Instead ex-IBF titleholder Charles Martin has also been touted as a potential next opponent – as well as Cuban fighter Luis Ortiz.
