Deontay Wilder twice beat Luis Oriz

He had called to face former WBC champion Deontay Wilder, 36, who is still yet to confirm if he will fight again since defeat to Tyson Fury, 33.

Now it appears the Mexican-American is ready to move on and called out Cuban Ortiz, 42, online by posting a mocked up poster of the pair.

Ruiz captioned it: “How many of my fans would like to see this fight happen next on PPV⁉

Ortiz most recently beat Charles Martin, 35, in January after getting up from the canvas to win in round six.

He had offered himself to fight Anthony Joshua, 32, after Oleksandr Usyk, 35, looked to be out of their rematch as he defended Ukraine.

Ortiz told BoxingScene: “I heard rumours of Joshua looking for southpaw work.

“I would be honoured to step in for his bout while he waits for Usyk as he defends his beautiful country.

“My prayers go out to the Klitschko brothers and all the Ukrainian people.”

It has since been revealed Usyk is set to rematch Joshua having left Ukraine to train for it.

Meanwhile promoter Eddie Hearn offered Ruiz a fight with Derek Chisora, 37, but claimed Ortiz is a frontrunner.

Hearn said on talkSPORT: “I think Ruiz will fight Ortiz next. That’s a good fight.

“But Chisora wants Ruiz, Chisora wants Chris Arreola – they’re our two favourite options for him.”
