Anthony Joshua blasted for ‘staged photo shoot’ and ‘spraying water on himself’ by former UFC star Chael Sonnen

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been accused of “spraying water on himself” and “staging a photo shoot” by former UFC star Chael Sonnen.

The British boxer shared two photos on Instagram on April 1, captioning them “April ain’t fooling me”.

Chael Sonnen thinks AJ covered himself in water

One showed him on an exercise bike with a towel on his head, appearing to be drenched in sweat.

The second image saw him drinking from a bottle as he took a break from the workout.

But Sonnen, who retired from UFC in 2019, claims the social media post was not all what it seemed.

He retweeted AJ’s post, writing: “If you guys ever spray water on yourself for a photo shoot, spray the water EVENLY. Then get rid of the bottle!”

Since retiring Sonnen has started a YouTube channel, where he is not shy in expressing his opinions.

From claiming Jake Paul is “the most feared man in boxing” to alleging he helped “make” Conor McGregor, the 45-year-old is no shrinking violet.

He recently urged McGregor to fight Jorge Masvidal “once and for all”.

The pair are the UFC’s two biggest pay-per-view stars, but both find themselves on a run of losses.

Sonnen said: “Conor’s a ‘55-pounder, Conor’s now up at ‘70 and he’s showing pictures on Instagram that he weighs 194.

“I think now is the time, I think International Fight Week is the date, let’s get McGregor-Masvidal done once and for all.”

McGregor, 33, has lost his last two fights, both against Dustin Poirier, who he first beat in 2014.

Joshua, meanwhile, is hoping to finally thrash out terms for his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
