These are the basics of boxing

How to effectively box

Boxing is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is a fight between two opponents. Different countries have different rules. There are three main types of boxing: Amateur boxing, Professional boxing, and Olympic boxing.

Amateur boxing usually takes place at school, college and university. This form of boxing involves sparring with no protection and using padded gloves. Amateur boxing competitions typically last for three rounds, each lasting five minutes. There are many types of amateur boxing: Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Taekwondo.

Boxing is typically practiced in clubs, stadiums or gyms. They have protective equipment such as mouthpieces. Six rounds of professional boxing last four minutes each. There are many different types of professional Boxing such as Boxing, MMA, Kickboxing, Muay Thai or Taekwondo.

Olympic boxing is practiced at the Olympics. Boxers are required to wear international standards-compliant protective gear. The eight rounds last three minutes each and are held over eight rounds. Olympic boxing has only two styles, Light Flyweight vs Heavyweight.

Boxing’s fundamental skills are:

  • Punching techniques
  • Techniques for protecting yourself
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Move your body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types of punches available: Left Hook and Right Hook, Cross, Cross, Straight, Underhand, Overhand, Cross, Straight, Cross, Straight, Cross, Straight, and Overhand. Each punch is different. Some punches require greater strength than others. A strong uppercut for example requires a lot of force. On the contrary, a straight punch takes less power but is faster than most punches.

There are also many combinations. These are combinations of punches that work together to achieve a specific goal. An entire combination could have several parts. For example, a combination of a left and right hook will result in damage to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer protects himself by using his body. He does this by using his legs, arms, elbows, hands, knees and feet.

Legs

Boxers should use the legs to protect themselves against kicks. If he gets kicked, he raises one leg and turns away from his attacker. To avoid being kicked in the side, he bends down if the attacker attacks from the front. However, if the attack comes from behind, he stands up straight and blocks the kick with his foot.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very effective because they inflict much pain. An elbow strike can be delivered directly or indirectly. Directly refers to hitting your opponent with the forearm, while indirect means you hit him using another part of your arms.

Hands

Boxers use the power of their hands to block any incoming blows. Boxers use their hands to stop incoming punches. They raise their fists up above their heads and move towards the attack. They then make contact with their attacker’s fist.

Knees

Boxers should bend their knees when receiving blows to the abdomen, stomach, or chest. A lot of boxers use knee strikes to defend themselves.

Feet

A boxer should take control of an attack and respond with counter-attacks. He can then gain distance from his opponent. Additionally, boxers need to maintain their balance when they counter-attack.

Stances

Boxing effectively requires a boxer to have a good stance. How he defends his self will depend on how he stances. It is how he positions himself and where he faces the opponent. Boxers can take many different stances. These are the most popular:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Body Movement

In order to win a fight, a boxer must move around his opponent. This involves changing position, speed and rhythm.

Rotation

To increase his punching power, a boxer rotates when he throws a punch. You can rotate at different speeds depending upon the punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch determines the effectiveness of a combination. A good combination starts with a strong punch and ends with a weak one.

Spare parts

Sparring is a training session that improves boxing skills. During sparring sessions, a boxer trains his mind as well as his body. In conclusion, the purpose of sparring is to learn how to fight and not get hurt.

It is important to be patient and dedicated when learning how to box. To become a better boxer, you must train hard and for a long time.
