Anthony Joshua managed Shannon Ryan feels ‘mentally more ready’ for second pro fight on Boxxer after giving up day job

SHANNON RYAN feels “mentally more ready” for her second professional fight after giving up her day job selling phones at O2.

The Watford-born 25-year-old used to juggle her part-time job with gruelling boxing training.

Shannon Ryan faces fellow Brit Gemma Ruegg for her second pro fight

But now she has been training full-time ahead of her second pro fight against fellow Brit Gemma Ruegg on tonight’s Boxxer show at Wembley Arena.

Ryan told SunSport: “I feel different in terms of I know what to expect from the press conference, the weigh in to walking out.

“The camp went really well. I’ve come in at the weight so I feel really good.

“For my first fight I was working three days a week and for this one I haven’t been working at all for the whole camp.

“I was training like a full-time athlete anyway but this time around I’ve had a lot more rest and recovery to really focus on my mental side.

“Physically I’ve always been great but for this one mentally I’m ready.”

Ryan’s epic journey has seen her sign for Anthony Joshua’s 258 Management agency and bag a major sponsorship deal with O2.

She started out at Barnet’s Finchley ABC gym in barnet where Joshua’s journey to stardom began and it was from there he took her under his wing.

Ryan added: “Working with 258 has been phenomenal. I’m being looked after and we’re working well together.

“But having the support as well from friends, family, management and my coaches has just been great going into tonight’s fight.”

Ryan beat Claudia Ferenczi by unanimous decision on her pro debut at Boxxer’s Wembley show on March 26.

Despite her red hot start to the pro scene Ryan isn’t calling anyone out just yet for her next fight.

She added: “When I started boxing in 2018 in the super-fly and fly-weight division there wasn’t that many but there’s a lot of girls now coming through.
