Anthony Joshua will NOT fight Oleksandr Usyk because he ‘doesn’t fancy it’, claims Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S rematch with Oleksandr Usyk will not take place soon as the Brit ‘doesn’t fancy it at the moment’, says Frank Warren.

AJ was completely outclassed back in September as he lost the heavyweight world titles to Ukrainian.

Frank Warren believes Anthony Joshua ‘doesn’t fancy’ his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk ‘at the moment’
The Brit and Ukrainian have yet to announce a date for their second fight

Despite that, he almost instantly triggered his rematch clause and has refused a mega-money offer to stand-aside and let Usyk face WBC champ Tyson Fury to unify the division.

However, four months on from suffering the second defeat of his career, Joshua and his rival are still yet to confirm a date for the re-run.

His promoter Eddie Hearn recently claimed that those step-aside talks between Fury and Usyk collapsed due to the Gypsy King wanting a warm-up fight first.

But Fury’s joint-promoter Warren has hit back and claimed that Joshua will not go through with his rematch.

The Queensberry boss said on talkSPORT: “He [Hearn] keeps talking about Tyson not fighting Usyk, I don’t think Joshua will. That’s my opinion.

“I don’t think he fancies that rematch at the moment.

“Hearn has his hands full now, he’s got that fight to get on and why does he keep banging on about what we’re doing for?

“Our fight is going to be on BT Box Office, it’s going to be a great fight to watch.

“Afterwards, they can go and watch all those shows Eddie [Hearn] is putting on his app.”

Fury has since switched his attention to defending his belt against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte.

Warren will be staging that bout after trumping Hearn’s £24million purse bid offer.

He added: “If he [Hearn] had his way, he’d be involved in everything. He’d have your job as well.

“What he had going for him is that he put in the highest ever purse bid, he held the record for putting in the highest ever purse bid… for 10 seconds.

“He should be delighted with that and move on. He says more about the fight than I do and I put the winning bit in.”
