Boxing is based on the following skills:

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • The body moves
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch is unique. Some punches require greater strength than others. For example, an uppercut requires great force. On the other hand, a straight punch requires less power but it is faster than other punches.

There are many combinations of punches. These are combinations of punches which work together to achieve a goal. One combination can have many parts. For example, a left hook followed by a right cross will cause damage to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer uses his body to protect himself against attacks. He uses his arms, legs, elbows, knees, knees, and feet to do this.

Legs

To defend against kicks, a boxer should use his legs. After receiving a kick, he will raise his leg and move away from the attacker. If the attack comes from the front, then he bends his knees to avoid being kicked on the side. If the attack comes from behind, however, he can stand straight up and block the kick by his foot.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very effective because they inflict much pain. An elbow strike can be delivered either directly or indirectly. Directly means that you hit your opponent with your forearm while indirectly means that you hit him with another part of your arm.

Hands

Boxers use their arms to stop incoming blows. They raise their fists high above their heads and point them in the direction of an attack. Then, they touch the attacker’s hand.

Knees

Boxers who are subject to a punch to their stomachs, abdomens, or chests should bend at the knees to absorb the impact. A lot of boxers use knee strikes to defend themselves.

Feet

Boxers should respond to being attacked by their opponent by standing back and delivering counter-attacks. This will help him gain distance from his opponent. Boxers should also keep their balance when counter-attacking.

Stances

In order to box effectively, a boxer needs to establish a stance. How he defends his self will depend on how he stances. It is how he positions himself and where he faces the opponent. Boxers can take many different stances. These are some of our most favorite:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Body Movement

To win a fight, a fighter must move around the opponent. This requires changing your position, speed, and rhythm.

Rotation

A boxer will rotate his arm when he is throwing a punch. Depending on the type and size of punch, the speed at which the rotation takes place varies.

Combinations

The effectiveness of a combination depends on the timing of each individual punch. A combination of strong and weak punches will produce a good result.

Spare parts

Sparring is a practice session designed to improve boxing skills . Sparring allows a boxer to improve his mental and physical skills. The goal of sparring is to learn to fight, and not to get hurt.

In conclusion, learning to box requires dedication and patience. You need to train hard and long in order to become a better boxer.
