GALAL YAFAI put on a masterclass to secure Team GB’s first Boxing gold of the Tokyo Olympics.
The boxer, 28, became Men’s flyweight Olympic champion after defeating Carlo Paalam of the Philippines.
It was a comprehensive win too, with Birmingham born Yafai putting Paalam on the canvas in the first round.
Team GB’s Lauren Price has a chance to follow Yafai by securing gold in the Women’s middleweight final tomorrow – she takes on China’s Li Qian.
Britain have secured six boxing medals in these Games but were made to wait for gold until Yafai’s victory today.
Yafai took victory on a split decision, with judges favouring the Brit 4-1.
It has been a brilliant journey for the fighter, who showed no signs of fatigue after beating four opponents to reach the final.
