Chris Eubank Jr reveals key change he will make for Liam Smith rematch and admits he got ‘complacent’ in KO defeat

CHRIS EUBANK JR has revealed the key change he will make in his rematch with Liam Smith after admitting he got “complacent” the first time around.

In January, the 33-year-old Brighton ace was demolished by Liverpool’s star in the fourth round.

Eubank Jr says he knows the one key thing he needs to change in their rematch

For the first time in his career he was dropped and stopped and most fans were not that keen on seeing the two collide again due to the convincingness of the first bout.

But Eubank Jr, whose father Chris had a legendary chin, has been stewing over the result.

He had the option of a June 3 showdown with Conor Benn after the original October bout was cancelled.

But the stink around Benn’s ongoing Ukad doping case meant that the toxic Brit battle was shelved and instead he will be out for revenge on June 17 at the AO Arena in Manchester against Smith.

Ahead of that clash, Eubank Jr says that he only needs to change one key part of his game in order to get the win.

He told Seconds Out: “I think the thing that mostly needs to change is the mindset.

“Maybe I did underestimate him a little bit, maybe I did get a little bit too complacent at times, but I feel like the strategy was working.

“It just wasn’t meant to be on that particular night.”

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch has its own technique. Some punches need more power than others. An example of this is an uppercut, which requires tremendous force. A straight punch, on the other hand requires less power and is quicker than other punches.

There are also many combinations. These are combinations of punches which work together to achieve a goal. A combination may have multiple parts. A combination may include multiple parts. For example, damage to the jaw of an opponent can be caused by a left hook and a right cross.

Guard Techniques

A boxer uses his body to protect himself against attacks. He does this by using his legs.

Legs

Boxers should use the legs to protect themselves against kicks. After receiving a kick, he will raise his leg and move away from the attacker. To avoid being kicked on the sides, he bends at his knees when the attacker strikes from the front. However, if the attack comes from behind, he stands up straight and blocks the kick with his foot.

Elbows

Because they inflict pain, elbow strikes can be very effective. You can deliver an elbow strike directly or indirectly. Directly means that your opponent is hit with your forearm. However, indirectly means that your elbow strike is delivered with another part or your arm.

Hands

Boxers use their hands to block incoming blows. To do this, they raise their fists higher than their heads and move their arms in the direction that the attack is coming. The attacker’s fist is then in their face.

Knees

When receiving a blow to the stomach, abdomen or chest, a boxer should bend his knees to absorb the impact. A lot of boxers use knee strikes to defend themselves.

Feet

A boxer should take control of an attack and respond with counter-attacks. This will help him gain distance from his opponent. Additionally, boxers need to maintain their balance when they counter-attack.

Stances

Boxing is only possible if a boxer has a clear stance. How he defends his self will depend on how he stances. It determines his position and the direction he will face. Boxers have many options for stances. Here are the most commonly used ones:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Move your body

To win a fight, a fighter must move around the opponent. This requires changing your position, speed, and rhythm.

Rotation

Rotating his arm to increase the puncher’s reach is a key part of boxing. Depending on what punch is being thrown, the speed of rotation varies.

Combinations

The timing of each individual punch affects the effectiveness or failure of a combination. A good combination starts with a strong punch and ends with a weak one.

Spare parts

Sparring, a boxing practice session, is designed to improve your boxing skills. During sparring sessions, a boxer trains his mind as well as his body. Sparring, in conclusion, is about learning how to fight and not getting hurt.

It is important to be patient and dedicated when learning how to box. To become a better boxer, you must train hard and for a long time.
