Chris Eubank Jr Slams Fighters Who Quit in Fights, Applauds Liam Smith’s Ten-Round Battle

Chris Eubank Jr vs. Liam Smith Rematch

Chris Eubank Jr has taken a swipe at fighters who quit in the midst of a fight, while at the same time praising Liam Smith for enduring ten grueling rounds in their recent rematch.

In their previous encounter in January, Smith made history by becoming the first man to knock down and stop Eubank, with two knockdowns in the fourth round.

However, in their rematch in Manchester, Eubank, 33, turned the tables and put Smith, 35, on the canvas twice before the fight was called off in the tenth round.

Other Fighters Criticized by Eubank Jr

Eubank didn't stop there with his criticism of quitting fighters. He referred to incidents involving heavyweight Dave Allen and Daniel Dubois in recent fights.

Allen, 31, had to be pulled out of his match against Frazer Clarke, 32, due to a perforated eardrum, while last month, 25-year-old Dubois was accused of easily letting himself be counted out in his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, 36.

Furthermore, Eubank took the opportunity to mock his arch-rival Billy Joe Saunders, 34, who failed to answer the bell for the ninth round in his fight against Canelo Alvarez, 33, earlier this year.

Admiration for Liam Smith's Determination

Amidst the criticism, Eubank expressed his admiration for Liam Smith's fighting spirit and determination. He commended Smith for his refusal to give up or search for an easy way out, something he believes is becoming increasingly common among fighters today.

Eubank stated, "I just said, 'Listen, you're a warrior. He didn't give up, he didn't look for a way out like so many other fighters are doing these days."

According to Eubank, the trend of fighters quitting has become normalized in boxing, which he believes is not a positive development. He highlighted a recent incident where a fighter, referred to as "White Rhino," quit during a fight, illustrating how the trend has spread.

For Eubank, fighters like him and Liam Smith, who don't possess the mentality to quit, are what the sport of boxing truly needs.
