Conor McGregor ‘salivating’ at prospect of facing Jake Paul as UFC star reacts to YouTuber’s win over Tyron Woodley

CONOR McGREGOR is ‘salivating’ at the prospect of fighting Jake Paul.

The UFC star watched on as the YouTuber beat Tyron Woodley in his fourth professional boxing bout.

It was the first time in his short career the judges’ scorecards were needed as he was taken the eight-round distance.

But he secured the split-decision victory to maintain his perfect record.

McGregor took to Twitter with a simple one-word message.

He wrote: “Salivating.”

And it suggests the Irishman is excited by taking on Paul – because he is confident of destroying the entertainer in the ring.

Paul was rocked for the first time in his career by a big hook to the head but recovered to do enough for the win.

McGregor, meanwhile, lost his only pro boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

However, the two-weight UFC champ will need to be fully fit before any dust-up can take place.

The Notorious, 33, has lost three of his last four MMA fights, including twice to Dustin Poirier this year.

In their July bout, he broke his leg and required surgery to fix the damage.

But the chance to take on Paul would guarantee a bumper pay day for McGregor.

Paul initially suggested a showdown last year before doubling down on the idea in July.

It is thought a £37million offer was tabled for McGregor – with the 24-year-old telling him to ‘take the fight p****’ in an Instagram message.

As of yet, there is no deal done between the two to rumble – but McGregor is clearly confident of an easy night’s work if they do get it on.

However, the American responded to the tweet in his press conference.

Paul said: “I’m salivating too because I’m just getting warmed up. Conor McGregor has a lot more to focus on besides me right now.

“I’m five wins in a row, he’s one in three in the past four years so he needs to get off his vodka or whatever his brand is, sober up and get back in the gym then we can f***ing fight.

“There’s no way he hits harder than Woodley, he doesn’t weigh as much as Woodley, he’s shorter than Woodley.

“I said it before the fight, I think Woodley is a harder fight than him, especially on the weight he is going – Conor is going down, I’m going up.”
