Dana White says Mike Tyson ‘looked f***ing awesome’ aged 54 in his boxing return draw with Roy Jones Jr

DANA WHITE has described Mike Tyson’s comeback performance as ‘f****** awesome’ after the heavyweight drew with Roy Jones Jr.

At the age of 54, Iron Mike ended a 15-year spell out of the ring to return on Saturday night in Los Angeles.

Despite spending much of the eight-round affair on the front foot, Tyson could only take a draw against his 51-year-old counterpart.

The result left UFC chief and long-term pal White confident that the former world champ had, in fact, won the affair.

And he was left impressed with Tyson’s showing in the unique affair.

White told reporters: “You guys have been asking me questions leading up to this thing and I didn’t want to say anything.

“[Tyson] is a good friend of mine. I was nervous, he is 54 years old, time is undefeated and time takes us all down.

“And one of the things I was worried about for Mike was that he has this incredible aura still and, at 54 years old, fighting is a young man’s game.

“All that being said, he looked f****** awesome tonight, I was blown away by how good he looked.

“And I was worried about Roy. Roy is 51 years old but Roy has been way more active than Tyson has been.

“But Roy actually got more tired than Mike tonight – which was shocking.

“I am happy for him and I hope they both made a zillion dollars, and it exceeded my expectations.”

Dana White felt pal Tyson was the better fighter on the night

Indeed, Tyson’s purse is set to amount to £7.5million for his 16 minutes of work on Saturday night.

The US pay-per-view price of almost £40 meant the American earned around £8,000 for every SECOND he was in the ring.

And fans can expect to see Tyson back in the ring soon after declaring it was ‘more fun’ than a full-on title fight – with another contest ‘absolutely’ on his mind.
