DAZN’s star-studded boxing team revealed with Maya Jama and Laura Woods joining Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom

DAZN have revealed their star-studded team to lead their new boxing coverage, including Laura Woods, Maya Jama and Mike Costello.

The new faces of boxing broadcasting in the UK have shown their ambition by assembling an impressive team of pundits, hosts and commentators.

Among the biggest names are ex-cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew and ‘the voice of boxing’ Costello, with the BBC veteran leading the commentary.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT star Woods, BBC personality Jama, Darren Barker, Chris Lloyd and Andy Lee were also named as part of the elite team on Monday.

On her new role, Woods said she was ‘excited’ to be part of something ‘special’.

Jama added her excitement at being part of the ‘game-changing’ crew on her ‘new adventure’, with Costello ‘looking forward to being the voice ringside’.

Bellew praised DAZN‘s ‘genius’ for bringing in Costello, while admitting he can’t wait to get to work alongside the ‘A team’ of boxing broadcasting.

Lloyd tweeted it was ‘absolutely mad to be a part of this team, what a gig’, while Barker wrote that he was ‘absolutely buzzing’.

On Lloyd and Barker’s hiring, Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn said: “These two have been a breath of fresh air in the bubble.

“They are going to be a huge part of our @DAZNBoxing @MatchroomBoxing team. Welcome.”

Lee added he was also ‘looking forward’ to his new gig.

Hearn had previously revealed his Matchroom team would leave Sky Sports to join DAZN on a five-year deal believed to £100million.

At the time, Hearn claimed: “Today is a monumental day for our business, our fighters and the sport of boxing in the UK.

“Our aim is to deliver a viewing experience that is truly game-changing.”

Hearn has already promoted major US boxing shows on DAZN, including Canelo Alvarez’s unification fight against Billy Joe Saunders in front of 70,000 fans in Texas.
