Deontay Wilder CONFIRMS talks over huge Saudi Arabia heavyweight boxing tournament with Fury, Usyk and Joshua all linked

DEONTAY WILDER has CONFIRMED sensational talks for a heavyweight boxing tournament are in progress.

Earlier this month reports suggested discussions had been held over the possibility of a boxing tournament involving some the sport’s biggest names in Saudi Arabia later this year.

Deontay Wilder’s trainer has confirmed talks over a four-man heavyweight boxing contest

This could see the likes of Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury all duking it out

But now the Bronze Bomber’s trainer Malik Scott has revealed the rumours are true.

As quoted by IFLTV, he said: “I can say that those rumours are true, negotiations are going on and big fights are gonna be happening.

“Not just with us, with a lot of top heavyweights.”

The likes of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk have all been linked with the competition.

The stunning four-man heavyweight tournament would see AJ fighting Wilder for the first time.

Fury would finally take on Usyk in the December bouts, with the winners meeting in a final.

Wilder, 37, has not been in action since October when he knocked out Robert Helenius in round one of his comeback bout.

AJ beat Jermaine Franklin at the start of April, whereas both Uysk and Fury saw negotiations over an undisputed heavyweight title fight collapse.

With Joshua’s next fight not scheduled until December, talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan stated this could be an indication of the four-man contest.

He said: “There’s a lingering observation and, I suppose rumour, that’s seeded I think in some substance – that there is a series of fights being arranged in the Middle East that involve Fury, Usyk, Joshua and Wilder.

“Three fights being made which is Fury vs Usyk, Wilder vs Joshua and the two winners of those fights meeting again in the Middle East for the ultimate showdown.

“That would align with the dynamic of the reasons why Anthony Joshua isn’t fighting until December.”

Here are the Basic Skills of Boxing

How to box effectively

Boxing is a popular sport. It is a fight between two opponents. Boxing rules vary from one country or another. There are generally three types of boxing: Amateur, Professional, and Olympic.

Amateur boxing is often practiced at school, college, or university. This type includes sparring sessions using padded gloves, but without protection. Amateur boxing competitions usually last three rounds and last five minutes each. There are many types of amateur boxing: Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Taekwondo.

Boxing professionals are usually trained in clubs, gyms, or stadiums. They have protective equipment such as mouthpieces. Professional boxing competitions consist of six rounds lasting four minutes each. There are many styles of professional boxing: Boxing, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Kickboxing and Muay Thai.

Olympic boxing can be seen at the Olympics. International standards require that boxers use special protective gear. The competition lasts for eight rounds, each lasting three minutes. Olympic boxing is limited to two styles: Light Flyweight and Heavyweight.

The basic skills of boxing are:

  • Punching techniques
  • Techniques for protecting yourself
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Moving your body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch is different. Some punches require more strength than others. For example, an uppercut is a powerful punch. A straight punch, on the other hand requires less power and is quicker than other punches.

There are also various punching combinations. These are combinations which combine several punches in order to achieve a specific goal. An entire combination could have several parts. A left hook followed with a right-cross will cause injury to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer protects himself by using his body. He does this by using his legs.

Legs

Boxers must use their legs to defend themselves against kicks. If he gets kicked, he raises one leg and turns away from his attacker. To avoid being kicked on the sides, he bends at his knees when the attacker strikes from the front. He will block the kick with his foot if the attack is coming from behind.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very effective because they inflict much pain. An elbow strike can be delivered directly or indirectly. Directly refers to hitting your opponent with the forearm, while indirect means you hit him using another part of your arms.

Hands

Boxers use their arms to stop incoming blows. To do this, they raise their fists higher than their heads and move their arms in the direction that the attack is coming. They then touch the attackers fist.

Knees

Boxers who are subject to a punch to their stomachs, abdomens, or chests should bend at the knees to absorb the impact. For defense purposes, knee strikes are common.

Feet

If he is being attacked, a boxer must take a step back and counter-attack. He can then gain distance from his opponent. Additionally, boxers need to maintain their balance when they counter-attack.

Stances

To box effectively, a boxer must establish a stance. His stance will determine how he defends. It dictates how he places his body and faces his opponent. There are many stances available to boxers. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • A low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Move your body

To win a fight, a fighter must move around the opponent. This includes changing speed, position and rhythm.

Rotation

Rotating his arm to increase the puncher’s reach is a key part of boxing. Depending on what punch is being thrown, the speed of rotation varies.

Combinations

The timing of each individual punch affects the effectiveness or failure of a combination. A combination of strong and weak punches will produce a good result.

Spare parts

Sparring is an exercise session to improve boxing skills. A sparring session is where a boxer trains both his mind and his body. The goal of sparring is to learn to fight, and not to get hurt.

Learning to box takes dedication and patience. To become a better fighter, you have to train hard and continue to work.
