Deontay Wilder in Talks for Never-Before-Seen Fight with Francis Ngannou

Ngannou's Move to PFL Opens Door for Potential Fight

Deontay Wilder is currently in "ongoing" talks to fight MMA superstar Francis Ngannou, with the possibility of a never-before-seen set of rules for the match. Ngannou recently left the UFC to sign with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), who allowed him to pursue both boxing and MMA.

Potential Two-Fight Deal with Wilder

Before his recent fight with Tyson Fury, Ngannou was in negotiations to fight Wilder. However, he ultimately agreed to a deal with Fury for a crossover clash in Saudi Arabia. Ngannou's controversial loss to Fury has fueled his desire for a rematch after Fury's upcoming fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Return to MMA in PFL

With Ngannou's focus on a rematch, it appears that his next fight will be in the MMA realm, marking his debut in the PFL. PFL CEO Peter Murray has identified Wilder as a potential opponent and confirmed that talks will continue with the American boxer.

Mixed-Rules Bout on the Horizon?

Murray has hinted at the possibility of a mixed-rules bout between Wilder and Ngannou, aiming to level the playing field. This hybrid fight format has never been seen before and adds an intriguing element to the potential matchup.

"We're working through those details," Murray said. "It's a fight that Francis wants, it's a fight we believe Deontay wants, and we're focused on putting it together."

Wilder's Upcoming Fight and Potential Showdown with Joshua

Before any potential fight with Ngannou, Wilder is scheduled to return to the ring on December 23 in Saudi Arabia against Joseph Parker. Anthony Joshua is also set to fight that night, with hopes of building towards a blockbuster matchup against Wilder in the future.

Despite the boxing moves and potential mega-money fights, Murray still believes that Ngannou could face Wilder in his next bout and considers it their goal.
