Deontay Wilder Reveals the Hardest Punch He’s Ever Faced – and It’s Not Who You Think

Wilder's Knockout Power

Deontay Wilder is known for his incredible knockout power, with 43 of his 46 wins coming by knockout. As he prepares for his upcoming fight against Joseph Parker, Wilder was asked who he's faced that comes closest to his own power.

A Surprising Answer

While many would have expected Wilder to say Tyson Fury, the man responsible for his two professional losses, his answer may surprise you. Wilder revealed that the hardest punch he's ever taken was from Frenchman Johann Duhaupas.

The Frenchman with Power

Wilder and Duhaupas faced off in 2015, during Wilder's second WBC title defense. Duhaupas proved to be a tough opponent, withstanding Wilder's power and taking him deep into the fight before ultimately succumbing to an 11th round TKO.

Wilder's Humorous Response

When asked about Duhaupas, Wilder initially struggled to recall his name, jokingly saying that the hardest punch he's taken is from taxes. But once he remembered, he confirmed that Duhaupas' punch was the hardest he's faced in his career so far.

On the Comeback Trail

After losing his WBC belt to Fury in 2020, Wilder is now on the comeback trail. His sights are set on a highly anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua in March. But before that, he'll have to get past Joseph Parker in their bout in Saudi Arabia on December 23.
