Deontay Wilder Speaks Out on Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou After Losing Blockbuster Fight

Deontay Wilder has finally broken his silence on Francis Ngannou stepping in to fight Anthony Joshua, after their highly anticipated match fell through.

Wilder's Missed Opportunity

Wilder had recently signed a deal to face Joshua in Saudi Arabia in March. However, his plans were derailed when he suffered a surprising defeat to Joseph Parker on the same night that Joshua triumphed over Otto Wallin.

With Wilder now back in training and seeking redemption, he had little to say about the upcoming crossover clash between Joshua and Ngannou on March 8 in Riyadh. When asked about it, he simply replied, "Fun fight. I look at it as a fun fight. May the best man win."

Ngannou's Boxing Debut

Ngannou made his boxing debut in October, and despite losing a controversial points decision, he managed to knock down Tyson Fury. However, Fury has since moved on to an undisputed title decider with Oleksandr Usyk, leaving Ngannou without a rematch.

Instead, Ngannou has turned his attention to Joshua, and Wilder, reflecting on his own loss to Parker, expressed his determination to make a comeback. He said, "I'm about to shock the world for the second time, for sure. We're just picking up the pieces, a lot of lessons have been learned and a lot of blessings have come in the midst of the lessons."

Wilder also shared his plans to focus on himself and his own career moving forward, stating, "It's just something I needed. I've been doing a lot of things for a lot of people for the last several years. Now we're just trying to be selfish at this point in time. We're not really calling it selfish, we're calling it self-focused."

How To

Learn how to master the cross punch in boxing

After the jab, the cross is your next crucial punch. As you are in a boxing stance turn your rear foot to the side, which will allow your hips to push forward. Simultaneously, throw your rear hand straight towards the target, rotating your fist so the palm faces the ground. Your lead hand should be protecting your face. The cross should have a powerful blow, but speed and accuracy are important in order to keep yourself safe.
