OTTO WALLIN’S promoter Dmitriy Salita insists the Swedish southpaw is “more than ready” to challenge Deontay Wilder for the WBC title if Tyson Fury vacates the belt.

The Gypsy King announced his retirement from boxing following his sixth round knockout victory against Dillian Whyte on April 23.

Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin is pushing for a world title shot should Tyson Fury vacate the WBC belt

Deontay Wilder has been named as a possible opponent for Wallin

And he took to social media on Friday morning to state he is “very happy and content being retired” as he enjoyed a four-mile run.

Though the 33-year-old has yet to officially inform the WBC that he plans to vacate the heavyweight belt.

It has been stated he will hold talks with WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman next week with the governing body keen to discuss his future.

Wallin, who suffered the only defeat in his professional career at the hands of the unbeaten Mancunian in September 2019, has won three consecutive bouts since that loss.

And he is willing to pit his wits against former WBC king Wilder, who hasn’t fought since being stopped in his trilogy bout with Fury in October.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salita said: “Tyson Fury is the people’s champion, gracious and classy!

“If Tyson vacates the title, Otto is more than ready to fight Wilder for the title.”

He added: “He is even ready to challenge the winner of [Oleksandr] Usyk’s rematch against [Anthony] Joshua.”

Wallin exclusively told SunSport in March how he was ready to fight British icon AJ should his rematch with Usyk fail to materialise.

The 31-year-old is not a complete stranger to Joshua, with the pair fighting twice in the amateur ranks.

Joshua also recruited him as a southpaw sparring partner before he knocked out Charles Martin, 36, in 2015.

Wallin remarked: “We had two fights in the amateurs which were wars, could have got either way, he won two decisions.

“But they were good fights and that would be a reason for him to look at it and say, ‘Hey, this would be a really good fight’.

“It would be entertaining, I’m a worthy opponent and a good fight for him.”
