And already the Cameroonian has talked up a lucrative switch to the boxing ring.
Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel once held tentative talks with UFC president Dana White for a fight between the American and Ngannou.
And he is willing to revisit the idea now the heavyweight is a free agent following his UFC exit.
Finkel told SunSport: “I’d be open to it, I’d be foolish to say. ‘I’m not interested, don’t talk to me.’
“As a matter of fact, Dana White and I had some conversations but it just never went anywhere. Dana actually wanted it.
“Then Deontay met Ngannou when he was training for Robert Helenius, while he was out in Vegas and they got along fine.”
Wilder, 37, was welcomed to the UFC’s training facility last year before he brutally knocked out Helenius, 38, in round one of his October return.
And he bumped into Ngannou, fuelling speculation of a blockbuster bout between the two famed punchers.
And Wilder recently welcomed the fight when asked about Ngannou’s decision to leave the UFC.
He told ESNews: “I would love to. Another African brother. I respect his decision on what he’s done.”
Wilder and his team have pursued a fight with Anthony Joshua, 33, following years of failed talks in the past.
But Joshua is on a rebuilding job following consecutive points losses to unbeaten Oleksandr Usyk, 36.
AJ looks set to return on April 1 at the O2 Arena against Jermaine Franklin, 29, who lost a disputed decision to Dillian Whyte, 34, in November.
So Wilder has turned his attention to Andy Ruiz Jr, 33, after the WBC ordered them into a final eliminator for the title.
Finkel said: “Deontay is in good spirits, right now we’re looking at a couple of options and most likely we’ll be fighting Ruiz, I hope in the second quarter of the year.
“In the next couple of weeks I’ll know if that can be made. Ruiz is not a second-class opponent, so he’s asking for a good payday also, which makes it all the more difficult.”

Punching Techniques
There are seven types. Each punch comes with its own technique. Some punches require more strength than others. For example, an uppercut requires great force. A straight punch on the other side requires less power, but is more effective than other punches.
There are also different combinations. These are combinations which combine several punches in order to achieve a specific goal. A combination can contain multiple parts. For example, a left hook followed by a right cross will cause damage to the opponent’s jaw.
Guard Techniques
A boxer protects himself by using his body. He does so by using his arms, elbows and hands as well as his knees, knees and legs.
Legs
Boxers should use the legs to protect themselves against kicks. After receiving a kick, he will raise his leg and move away from the attacker. If the attack comes from the front, then he bends his knees to avoid being kicked on the side. However, if the attack comes from behind, he stands up straight and blocks the kick with his foot.
Elbows
Because they cause great pain, elbow strikes are extremely effective. An elbow strike may be delivered directly or in an indirect manner. Directly means that you hit your opponent with your forearm while indirectly means that you hit him with another part of your arm.
Hands
Boxers use their hands as a shield against incoming punches. To do so, they raise their fists above their head and move them towards the direction of the attack. They then touch the attackers fist.
Knees
Boxers who are subject to a punch to their stomachs, abdomens, or chests should bend at the knees to absorb the impact. Knee strikes are often used for defense purposes.
Feet
A boxer should not be afraid to respond to an attack. This will allow him to gain distance from his opponent. Boxers should also keep their balance when counter-attacking.
Stances
A boxer must have a stance in order to be effective at boxing. His stance determines how he defends himself. It determines where he will face his opponent and how he will position his body. There are many positions that boxers can adopt. These are the most popular:
- Low stance
- High stance
- Southpaw stance
- Western stance
The Body Movement
A boxer must be able to move around his opponent in order to win a fight. This includes changing speed, position and rhythm.
Rotation
When a boxer throws a punch, he rotates in order to increase the reach of his arm. The rotation is done at different speeds depending on the type of punch.
Combinations
Timing of each punch is crucial to the effectiveness of a combination. A combination is good if it starts with a strong punch then ends with a weaker one.

Sparring is a training session that improves boxing skills. Sparring allows a boxer to improve his mental and physical skills. Sparring, in conclusion, is about learning how to fight and not getting hurt.
In conclusion, learning to box requires dedication and patience. To become a better fighter, you have to train hard and continue to work.
