DEONTAY WILDER has revealed he had to have bicep surgery after suffering the injury during his crushing defeat to Tyson Fury.

Back in February the American was battered from pillar to post as he tasted defeat for the first time in his pro career when he was pulled out by his corner in the seventh round.

Deontay Wilder has revealed he suffered a bicep injury during his battering by Tyson Fury

There were rumours at the time that Wilder had suffered an injury to his mouth and his ear.

But speaking to PBC Podcast, the 34-year-old confirmed the big issue concerned his arm.

And it wouldn’t be the first time the limb has caused him issues. Wilder has previously revealed he has had SEVEN surgeries on it.

The Bronze Bomber said: “Recovery [is] going well, I’m in therapy, I ended up injuring it during my last fight, somewhere up in there.

“But everything is going great with it. That’s another thing, I’m focusing on recovery, getting myself back to full health.”

UNABLE TO WORK OUT

He also revealed that despite being in lockdown like much of the rest of the world due to the coronavirus, he can’t train as normal.

He added: “Oh yeah, I can’t work out now. Once I get healed with my arm I’m looking forward to just working out, being able to do the things I love to do.

“Right now I’m just sitting back and getting taken care of, all meals being prepared for me, a lot of catering now between my fiancee and all the kids around me.

“It’s nothing we can complain of in this moment in time.

“I know we all in the world are going through something together, it’s the first time the world is going through the same things.

“We all have to survive and I love being around my loved ones through these tough times.”

TRILOGY FIGHT PUSHED BACK

Despite the one-sided nature of the rematch, Wilder has signed up to complete the trilogy.

That was originally scheduled for July 25 in Las Vegas, but that is likely to be moved due to the ongoing pandemic and could be delayed past 2020.

Wilder added: “Hopefully this corona stuff be out the way and we can get back to camp and be ready to go again some time at the end of the year.”

The Alabama fighter went on to say he STILL doesn’t see Fury as the champ, despite being taken to school a few months back.

He added: “People that know boxing know that wasn’t Deontay Wilder. I was a zombie that night. I wasn’t Deontay Wilder that night.

“The things I was doing in the ring, from the first fight to the second it was two different people.

I felt like a zombie in there, there’s a lot of things I can’t say. But it’s not over.”
