Dillian Whyte’s coach says boxing legends Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe are ‘on a different planet’ to Tyson Fury

BOXING legends Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe are ‘on a different planet’ to Tyson Fury, according to Dillian Whyte’s coach.

Fury is set to fight Whyte on April 23 at Wembley Stadium with his WBC crown on the line.

The Gypsy King has claimed to be the best heavyweight of his era – but was told he has not got a patch on champions of the past.

Via The Star, Whyte’s trainer Xavier Miller said: “The era I like is more towards the end of the 80s and the 90s.

“The likes of Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe. To me, technically, they were on a different planet.

“If I watch Holyfield v Riddick Bowe part one, and then I watch Wilder v Fury, the difference in class is just amazing.

“I mean, he’s not on that level. I know everyone gives him a lot of praise and a lot of hype. And yes he can box well, but you know, he’s beatable. And we’re going to beat him.”

Fury, 33, has stopped Deontay Wilder, 36, in his last two fights, but Miller claimed Whyte, also 33, is a whole different beast.

He said: “It will be interesting because he hasn’t faced anything quite like Dillian Whyte.

“Whyte can do a lot of different things in the ring, he is very versatile; aggressive, power in both hands, good counter puncher, good body puncher, so Tyson would have a lot to deal with.

“At the same time Tyson’s very tall, can box at long range. It’s a fight I’ve always wanted for Dillian ever since I became head trainer.”

Miller also backed the decision to stage the fight at Wembley, which saw over 85,000 sold immediately.

He said: “The fight makes sense to be in the UK, you know, you want the British fans to get a chance to see the historic fight, this will be a historic moment for Dillian.

“He hasn’t boxed for a world title yet. So, of course, you’d like to do that at home.

“If you’ve got to travel, you’ve got to travel, that’s just the way it is, but ideally our first choice is a massive stadium fight in the UK.”
