BOXING star Dmitry Bivol is fully confident at inflicting a first defeat on Russian compatriot Artur Beterbiev.

The WBA light-heavyweight champion is desperate to pits his wits against the WBO, WBC and IBF king in an undisputed dust-up next.

Beterbiev added the WBO belt to his WBC and IBF straps last weekend after knocking out Joe Smith Jr

Bivol, 31, is coming off the back of a career-best performance against Canelo Alvarez after outclassing the Mexican in May.

Meanwhile Beterbiev added the WBO belt to his collection last weekend after blasting out Joe Smith Jr in just two rounds.

Attention has turned towards a dream encounter between the two heavy-handed bangers later in 2022.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Bivol has stated he is looking forward to trading punches with the 37-year-old.

He said: “Yes of course, it is my goal.

“I watched the [Beterbiev-Smith] fight.

“As I have said before, I am very excited about unifying all the belts in the division.”

It’s not just Bivol that is keen to face Beterbiev next, with Britain’s Anthony Yarde eager to secure a second world title shot after his 2019 defeat against Sergey Kovalev.

Asked about a clash with Yarde, Beterbiev remarked: “Unification fights are more interesting, more motivating.

“I prefer the unification fight. I want to be undisputed.”

Yarde was in attendance in New York to watch Beterbiev destroy Smith Jr at the Hulu Theater.

Commenting on a potential encounter, the Londoner stated: “Beterbiev is coming to London, we are going to make it happen.

“It’s a lot of money but where I come from, I see it as opportunity to try and make a legacy.

“Money runs out but legacy lives on forever. The preparation will begin intensely as soon as I get back to London. I’ll shock a lot of people. I’m quite confident.
