Avoiding a rematch
Ebanie Bridges has shared her thoughts on why she believes Anthony Joshua should steer clear of facing Zhilei Zhang in a rematch. Although Joshua defeated Zhang when they were both amateurs, Bridges thinks it would be a mistake for the British boxer to face him again.
Impressive victory
Zhang recently destroyed fellow Brit Joe Joyce in their heavyweight rematch, adding fuel to the rumors surrounding Joshua's next opponent. Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has refused to rule out a potential bout with Zhang in the future.
A recipe for trouble
Bridges expressed her doubts about Joshua's ability to win against Zhang, citing the Chinese southpaw's power and Joshua's chin as a potential recipe for trouble. She believes that although Joshua may be more skilled than Joyce, he lacks the toughness to absorb Zhang's punches.
A changing landscape
When Joshua defeated Zhang in the quarter finals of the Olympic games in 2012, both fighters were in different stages of their careers. Since then, Zhang has had just one career loss as a professional and currently holds the WBO interim heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Joshua has faced setbacks against Andy Ruiz Jr and Oleksandr Usyk.
A chance to rebuild
A fight against Zhang could provide Joshua with an opportunity to build on his recent win against Robert Helenius. Despite his previous victory over Zhang, the Chinese heavyweight has since undergone significant changes and poses a new challenge for Joshua.
