Dangerous fight for Joe Joyce
Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Anthony Joshua, has made it clear that a fight between Joshua and Joe Joyce would be "dangerous" for Joyce. This comes after Joyce's defeat to Zhilei Zhang, where his eye was severely injured in the sixth round. Hearn believes that Joyce should not continue boxing and that it would not be the right fight to make.
Zhang rematch ends in devastating finish
In their rematch, Joyce suffered an even more devastating defeat to Zhang, being knocked out by a lead southpaw right hook in the third round. This loss to Zhang has left Hearn talking down the possibility of Joyce ever facing Joshua. Hearn emphasizes the need to protect these fighters and describes a potential fight between Joyce and Joshua as a "car crash."
Potential fight with Zhang
Although Hearn rules out a fight between Joshua and Joyce, he is open to a matchup between Joshua and Zhang. Hearn reveals that Joshua has always been interested in fighting Zhang, as they previously faced each other in the amateurs. Hearn suggests that the fight could take place in China or at Wembley Stadium, with money being a determining factor. He believes that a fight with Zhang could be an easier fight for Joshua compared to a potential matchup with Deontay Wilder.
Joshua previously defeated Zhang in the 2012 Olympics.
