How to box efficiently

Boxing is one the most well-known sports in the world. It consists of two opponents who try to knock out each other’s head. Boxing rules vary from one country or another. There are three main types of boxing: Amateur boxing, Professional boxing, and Olympic boxing.

Amateur boxing is often practiced at school, college, or university. This boxing style includes sparring sessions without protection, using padded gloves. Usually amateur boxing competitions consist of three rounds of five minutes each. There are many styles of amateur boxing such as Kickboxing or Muay Thai, Taekwondo and Karate, Judo and Wrestling, among others.

Professional boxing is usually practiced in gyms, clubs or stadiums. They have protective equipment such as mouthpieces. Professional boxing competitions have six rounds that last four minutes each. There are several different styles of professional boxing including Boxing, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo and others.

Olympic boxing is done at the Olympics. Special protective gear must be worn by boxers to ensure compliance with international standards. The competition lasts approximately three minutes for each round. Olympic boxing has only two styles, Light Flyweight vs Heavyweight.

Boxing is based on the following skills:

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Move your body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types: Left Hook (right hook), Right Hook (uppercut), Cross (cross), Straight, Overhand, Underhand. Each punch comes with its own technique. Some punches are more powerful than others. An uppercut, for instance, requires tremendous strength. A straight punch on the other side requires less power, but is more effective than other punches.

There are also various punching combinations. These are combinations that combine punches to accomplish a particular goal. A combination may have multiple parts. A left hook followed with a right-cross will cause injury to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer protects himself by using his body. He does this by using his legs.

Legs

Boxers should use their legs to defend against kicks. After receiving a kick, he will raise his leg and move away from the attacker. To avoid being kicked in the side, he bends down if the attacker attacks from the front. However, if the attack comes from behind, he stands up straight and blocks the kick with his foot.

Elbows

Because they inflict pain, elbow strikes can be very effective. An elbow strike can be delivered directly or indirectly. Directly means that your opponent is hit with your forearm. However, indirectly means that your elbow strike is delivered with another part or your arm.

Hands

Boxers use their hands as a shield against incoming punches. Boxers raise their fists to block incoming blows and then move in the direction of the attacker’s attack. The attacker’s fist is then in their face.

Knees

To absorb the impact of a punch to the stomach, abdomen, or chest, boxers should bend their knees. Knee strikes are often used for defense purposes.

Feet

If he is being attacked, a boxer must take a step back and counter-attack. He can then gain distance from his opponent. Boxers should also keep their balance when counter-attacking.

Stances

Boxing effectively requires a boxer to have a good stance. The way he defends him will be dictated by his stance. It determines his position and the direction he will face. There are many positions that boxers can adopt. Here are the most commonly used ones:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Moving your body

A boxer must change his position, speed and rhythm in order to win the fight. This involves changing position, speed and rhythm.

Rotation

Rotating his arm to increase the puncher’s reach is a key part of boxing. You can rotate at different speeds depending upon the punch.

Combinations

The timing of each individual punch affects the effectiveness or failure of a combination. A combination is good if it starts with a strong punch then ends with a weaker one.

Spare parts

Sparring is an exercise session to improve boxing skills. A sparring session is where a boxer trains both his mind and his body. In conclusion, the purpose of sparring is to learn how to fight and not get hurt.

It is important to be patient and dedicated when learning how to box. To become a better boxer, you must train hard and for a long time.
