A FORMER boxing champion will stand trial after being accused of a violent daylight robbery.

Ex-WBO and IBF light heavyweight champion Damien Duncan Hooper was in custody for his hearing today.

He is accused of a daylight robbery in Brisbane

Police believe the 30-year-old Aussie fighter used “personal violence” in a July 2022 robbery in Brisbane.

He will also face four counts of entering premises, two each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and wilful damage along with charges of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He also is charged with driving without a licence, obstructing police, trespassing, and attempted entering a dwelling with intent and breach of bail at various dates.

The former Olympian has been charged and will stand trial in Brisbane District Court at a date that will be announced soon.

Hooper did not apply for bail.

In his five-year boxing career, he boasts a 14-1 win-loss record with nine knockout victories.

In 2012, the boxer was reported to the International Olympic Committee for breaking Game rules, for wearing the Aboriginal flag into the ring where he fought America’s Marcus Browne.
