Former Champ Worries Tyson Fury’s Fight with Oleksandr Usyk Will be Delayed

Former world champion Johnny Nelson is concerned that the highly anticipated fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk could be delayed. The two undefeated champions are scheduled to meet in the heavyweight division's first-ever four-belt unification on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.

Training Concerns

Tyson Fury's father, John, recently spoke out about his son's training camp, describing it as a "circus." This has raised worries among boxing insiders, including Nelson, who believe that the fight may face further postponement. "If he doesn't fight on February 17, then we have a problem," Nelson said. "It gives you a sense there might be a delay, they might want more time. I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to push it down the line a bit."

Controversial Victory

Fury's last fight against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou ended in a controversial points victory. Many expected it to be an easy win for Fury, but it turned out to be a challenging match. John Fury was not happy with the preparation for that fight and worries that there has been no improvement for the upcoming bout against Usyk.

Concerns of Defeat

John Fury also expressed concerns that his son could suffer defeat for the first time if adjustments are not made. He criticized the training camp, saying, "It's not a camp, it's a circus." John praised Usyk's disciplined and professional team and questioned whether Tyson has the same level of support.

Holiday Controversy

Fury recently faced criticism from Usyk's team for holidaying in Saudi Arabia while Usyk is busy sparring with top-level opponents. This has added to the concerns about Fury's preparation for the fight.

Back to Training

Despite the controversy and worries, Tyson Fury is back in his training base in Morecambe, UK, and is working with head coach Sugarhill Steward. He has also enlisted the help of unbeaten southpaw Thomas Carty to replicate Usyk in sparring sessions.

Only time will tell if the concerns about Fury's training camp will affect the fight's scheduling. Boxing fans around the world eagerly await the historic clash between Fury and Usyk.
