Harlem Eubank smashes Viorel Simion for 13th pro win on undercard of cousin Chris Jr’s grudge match with Liam Williams

HARLEM EUBANK secured the 13th win of his promising career with a stoppage triumph on cousin Chris Jr’s undercard.

The nephew of British boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr – who was sat at ringside wearing his sheriff’s badge – beat tough journeyman Viorel Simion into submission in Cardiff.

And then he warned the rest of Britain’s super-lightweight division that he plans a busy 2022 fighting for the proud family name.

“He was a tough opponent so I am very pleased to stop him,” he said.

“I want a busy year with as many fights as possible, so I can really show my progress and improve with every fight.

“I want to grow as a fighter, I have come through some tough levels now but I always want more.

“And I think there will be a big fight for me in April.”

With a handful of family at ringside the 27-year-old Brighton ace kicked off the Cardiff show against the rugged Romanian journeyman.

The former karate star showed his skills in the opening round, firing digs into Simion that made him tuck-up and absorb punishment.

And he showed a mean side when warned over repeated rabbit punches to the back of the head.

In the second round we saw flashes of the improved footwork and defence that training at Adam Booth’s Surrey gym has brought along.

Eubank slashed away at Simion’s body in the third and fourth but there were lots of scrappy moments when the ref had to break up clinches.

Eubank had his man hurt in the fifth but when Simion hit the deck it was only out of exhaustion and there was no count.

But after losing all of the opening rounds Simion retired on his stall before the sixth round could start.
