‘He can’t move his head’ – Canelo Alvarez slams Deontay Wilder’s approach in knockout losses to Tyson Fury

, ‘He can’t move his head’ – Canelo Alvarez slams Deontay Wilder’s approach in knockout losses to Tyson Fury

CANELO ALVAREZ claimed Deontay Wilder’s lack of head movement set him up for failure against Tyson Fury.

The heavyweight rivals drew in 2018 but Fury won the rematch in Las Vegas two years later.

Deontay Wilder was beaten in his trilogy bout against Tyson Fury

But the best was saved till last as their trilogy bout in October 2021 went down as an all-time classic.

Wilder, 36, twice floored Fury, 33, in round four but was eventually knocked out in round 11 after being floored three times himself.

And Mexican superstar Canelo, speaking in an old Last Stand Podcast interview last year, broke down where the American went wrong.

He said: “Great fight, great fight. I think Wilder needs more condition, more moves. He doesn’t know how to move the head.

“It is difficult when you don’t have that condition and you don’t know how to move.

“That is why Tyson Fury beat him. Tyson Fury is a great fighter.”

Wilder is yet to return since the gruelling defeat but SunSport understands the ex-WBC champion is in line to fight this year.

Whereas Fury announced his boxing retirement in April after beating Dillian Whyte, 34, in six rounds at Wembley.

And he recently revealed the fear of “brain damage” caused by his trilogy with Wilder was the main reason for walking away.

Canelo, 31, returns on September 17 in Las Vegas to complete a trilogy of his own against Gennady Golovkin, 40.

The bitter enemies drew in 2017 but Mexico’s great boxing hope won the rematch a year later in a disputed points win.

Canelo heads into the trilogy off the back of defeat to Dmitry Bivol, 31, in May.
