‘I will not be accepting gifts on Christmas’ – Floyd Mayweather explains why he’s BANNED people from giving him presents

FLOYD MAYWEATHER will not be accepting gifts this Christmas and has BANNED people from giving him presents.

The boxing legend – who in 2019 topped Forbes’ rich list of the decade with £706MILLION earned – is a famously generous person.

Floyd Mayweather revealed he will not be accepting gifts this Christmas

But only receiving back on a “commercialised holiday” has infuriated Mayweather so much he will stop receiving presents.

He posted online: “I will not be accepting gifts on Christmas, my birthday, Valentine’s Day, or Father’s Day.

“I constantly give gifts all throughout the year because I feel every day is worth celebrating and not just some commercialised holiday.

“Where’s the thought behind a gift if it’s only given on a holiday? You only think of giving me a gift when society says you should give gifts?

“I understand people can’t give me what I give them, but it’s the small thoughtful things that count.

“It’s all about reciprocation. The random gift on any given day is priceless, not the gifts I receive 4 times a year. I’m better than that.”

Mayweather boasted of making over £1bn during his time as the pound-for-pound and pay-per-view king.

But he retired officially in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 34, in ten rounds.

Although he has returned for five exhibition bouts since, most recently against YouTuber Deji, 25, in Dubai in November.

Mayweather won the bout in six rounds and has kept the door open to more exhibitions in the future.

Anthony Taylor, 33, and MMA fighter-turned crossover boxer, claims to be in talks to fight the boxing legend in March.

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch comes with its own technique. Some punches are more powerful than others. An example of this is an uppercut, which requires tremendous force. A straight punch on the other side requires less power, but is more effective than other punches.

There are many combinations that can be used to punch. These are combinations made up of several punches that can be used together to achieve one goal. An entire combination could have several parts. For example, a combination of a left and right hook will result in damage to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

Boxers protect themselves by protecting their bodies. He does this using his legs and arms, elbows as well as hands, knees and feet.

Legs

To defend against kicks, a boxer should use his legs. After receiving a kick, he will raise his leg and move away from the attacker. To avoid being kicked on the sides, he bends at his knees when the attacker strikes from the front. If the attack comes from behind, however, he can stand straight up and block the kick by his foot.

Elbows

Because they inflict pain, elbow strikes can be very effective. An elbow strike may be delivered directly or in an indirect manner. Directly refers to hitting your opponent with the forearm, while indirect means you hit him using another part of your arms.

Hands

Boxers use their hands as a shield against incoming punches. They raise their fists high above their heads and point them in the direction of an attack. The attacker’s fist is then in their face.

Knees

When receiving a blow to the stomach, abdomen or chest, a boxer should bend his knees to absorb the impact. For defense purposes, knee strikes are common.

Feet

Boxers should respond to being attacked by their opponent by standing back and delivering counter-attacks. This way, he can gain distance between himself and his opponent. Also, boxers must maintain their balance while delivering counter-attacks.

Stances

Boxing is only possible if a boxer has a clear stance. His stance determines how he defends himself. It determines his position and the direction he will face. There are many positions that boxers can adopt. These are some of our most favorite:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Body Movement

A boxer must be able to move around his opponent in order to win a fight. This involves changing positions, speed, rhythm and timing.

Rotation

Rotating his arm to increase the puncher’s reach is a key part of boxing. You can rotate at different speeds depending upon the punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch will determine the effectiveness and efficiency of a combination. A combination that is effective starts with a strong punch, and ends with one that is weak.
