Inside Jake Paul’s diet for Anderson Silva bout including eggs on toast for breakfast and chicken, fish and steak dinner

JAKE PAUL has fuelled himself up on a high protein and low carb diet for his tasty clash with Anderson Silva.

The YouTuber-turned boxer returns over the weekend in Arizona against Silva in an eight-round catchweight encounter.

As has been the case since last summer, Paul has stationed himself in his newly-adopted home of Puerto Rico.

And the last 12 weeks has since him tirelessly eat, sleep, train repeat in a bid to get himself in top shape for the toughest fight of his 5-0 career.

Paul, 25, usually spars at night time, to replicate a fight, so finds himself waking up at midday, where he has his first meal.

He told SunSport: “Breakfast is just like an omelette, with one piece of toast.

“And then sometimes I’ll skip lunch, I’m not really a big lunch person and I think that sort of helps me drop weight.

“I’ll usually have like a snack, maybe some fruit and a snack usually like a high-fibre protein bar.”

All of Paul’s professional bouts have come around the 190lb mark, but his return will be at a career-low of 187lb.

As a result, the American has had to watch what he eats at the dinner table – but rest assured he is not draining himself at the all-new weight.

Paul said: “Dinner is like chicken kenowa, steak kenowa, fish, rice, not a lot of carbs. So it’s been a really tough diet coming down to 187lb.

“But we’re wanting to go it the right way, where I can wake up on the morning of the weigh in and have pasta if I want to.

“I weigh like 195 right now, so a lot of fighters could just jump in the sauna but that kills you in the fight, you’ll have nothing left in the fight.

“So we cut weight the right way, ahead of time so I don’t have to sit in the sauna or the steam room and I’ll actually be in that weight.”

Paul’s return marks the first time he has faced an opponent with recognised boxing experience.

Silva, 47, a legend of the UFC, has four wins and only one loss in the ring, last year beating ex-middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 36.

Paul has endured an agonosing ten-month hiatius from the ring, following a series of cancelled bouts this year.

Firstly, Tommy Fury, 23, pulled out of his celebrity grudge match for a second time amid US visa issue.

His replacement Hasim Rahman Jr, 31, then saw himself withdrawn following a weight row.

But Paul reckons the time off will all be worth it as a career-high payday awaits.

He said: Hopefully it does well, I think it will the numbers are all showing that. So yeah, this could definitely be my highest payday.

“I haven’t really focussed on that, even saying that is one of the first times I’ve even thought about it.

“Just because of how much the fight means and how focussed I am and how big the challenge is at hand.

“The payday is just the cherry on top for the opportunity at hand.”
