Inside KSI’s brutal training schedule and strict diet ahead of boxing return as he prepares for Faze Temperrr fight

KSI has fueled up on healthy curries, sparring sessions and brutal track runs to prepare for his boxing return.

The YouTube, music and celebrity prizefighter faces online rival Faze Temperrr on Saturday at Wembley Arena.

KSI makes his boxing return against Faze Temperrr

It comes six months after he beat rapper Swarmz, 26, and Mexican boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda, 23, on the SAME NIGHT.

KSI continues to juggle a career as a boxer, content creator and business owner into his hectic daily schedule.

And here, the man himself gives SunSport an exclusive look into just how jam-packed a day in the life of KSI is.

Morning

KSI: I’ll wake up around 8am and I’ll have breakfast around 8.30am.

I’ll watch a bit of Philip DeFranco or John Oliver, chill for a little bit and then go to the car and head over to Shootfighters gym.

When I’m in the gym I’ll warm up on the rowing bike, do that for 100 calories, then I shadow box for four-six rounds.

Then we either work on technique, movement, things to improve on in sparring before bag and padwork.

I’ll do some cardio, I could go on the versaclimber or do various things with a heavy ball.

After that we’ll do abs, do a good circuit there and then I head back home to shower.

KSI training before his last fight

Afternoon

KSI: I’ll have lunch, watch anything, at the moment I’m watching The Legend of Vox Machina, which is actually really entertaining.

Then I’ll play games, Overwatch or Call of Duty, something like that.

If I have a bit of time I might record a YouTube video for my channel or I might record Reacts for Sidemen.

Afterwards, I’ll get ready for my second session, let’s say I’ll go on the track.

I’ll do 400 metre sprints, do that six times with one minute between and I’ll try and get good times.

It has to be under 1.20 every time, without fail. After that we’ll do bunny hops.

When this is finished I’ll head back home, shower, have dinner and chill. Maybe watch something, relax and then head to bed.

Sparring

Getting the rounds in the gym is vitally important for KSI, who is still new to the sport, and insist his fame does not afford him mercy.

KSI: People would hold back, because they’d be like, ‘Oh, he’s a YouTuber, he’s not really a fighter, I don’t want to put my all into it.’

And then I hit hard and they’re like, ‘Oh s***, wait, what? What’s going on?’ Then they put more into it.

Then you’ve got other people that are like, ‘I want to make a statement, you’re not meant to be in this world, this scene is different, you’re not a fighter.’

When I’m able to go toe-to-toe with them it makes them have a new level of respect for me.

Before the Logan fights, I definitely didn’t spar enough. Now I spar every other day, I get about ten-plus rounds a week.

I don’t hold back on my sparring partners, so if they hold back they’re getting knocked down.

I make them  go all out, just my intensity. I’m always in their face, I love a jab.

I love putting people on their backfoot, I’m not a guy who likes being on the backfoot. But I can fight on the backfoot when I need to.

How To

Here are some basic skills in boxing

How to box effectively

Boxing is a popular sport. It involves two people who attempt to knock each other out of their heads. The rules of boxing vary from country to country. There are three types generally of boxing: Amateur (Professional) and Olympic (Olympic).

Amateur boxing may be done at school, college, and university. This form of boxing involves sparring with no protection and using padded gloves. Amateur boxing competitions usually last three rounds and last five minutes each. There are many styles to amateur boxing like Kickboxing. Muay Thai. Taekwondo. Karate. Judo. Wrestling.

Boxing is typically practiced in clubs, stadiums or gyms. They have protective equipment such as mouthpieces. Six rounds of professional boxing last four minutes each. There are many styles to professional boxing.

Olympic boxing is done at the Olympics. Boxers wear special protective gear, which must conform to international standards. The eight rounds last three minutes each and are held over eight rounds. Only two types of Olympic boxing are available: Light Flyweight or Heavyweight.

These are the basic skills required to box.

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Body movement
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spares

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch has its own technique. Some punches are more powerful than others. For example, an uppercut requires great force. On the contrary, a straight punch takes less power but is faster than most punches.

There are also various punching combinations. These are combinations of punches that work together to achieve a specific goal. One combination can have many parts. An example of this is a left hook, followed by a right crossing. This will damage the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

To defend himself from being attacked, a boxer uses his entire body. He does this using his legs and arms, elbows as well as hands, knees and feet.

Legs

Boxers should use the legs to protect themselves against kicks. When he’s hit, he raises his right leg and runs away from the attacker. To avoid being kicked on the sides, he bends at his knees when the attacker strikes from the front. However, if the attack comes from behind, he stands up straight and blocks the kick with his foot.

Elbows

Because they cause great pain, elbow strikes are extremely effective. An elbow strike can be delivered directly or indirectly. Directly refers to hitting your opponent with the forearm, while indirect means you hit him using another part of your arms.

Hands

Boxers use both their hands and arms to prevent incoming blows. To do so, they raise their fists above their head and move them towards the direction of the attack. They then touch the attackers fist.

Knees

To absorb the impact of a punch to the stomach, abdomen, or chest, boxers should bend their knees. Knee strikes are often used for defense purposes.

Feet

A boxer should not be afraid to respond to an attack. He can then gain distance from his opponent. Boxers should also keep their balance when counter-attacking.

Stances

To box effectively, a boxer must establish a stance. How he defends his self will depend on how he stances. It defines where he faces his opponent and how he positions his body. Boxers can take many different stances. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

The Body Movement

Boxers must maneuver around their opponent to win fights. This requires changing your position, speed, and rhythm.

Rotation

When a boxer throws a punch, he rotates in order to increase the reach of his arm. The rotation is done at different speeds depending on the type of punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch determines the effectiveness of a combination. A combination that is effective starts with a strong punch, and ends with one that is weak.

Spare parts

Sparring, a boxing practice session, is designed to improve your boxing skills. Boxers learn to train their mind and bodies during sparring sessions. The goal of sparring is to learn to fight, and not to get hurt.

You need to have patience and dedication in order to learn how boxing works. To be a better boxer you need to train hard.
