Paul's Impressive Win
Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, has received a surprising show of support from ex-UFC star Matt Brown. After signing with the Professional Fighters League, a rival promotion to the UFC, Paul secured a ten-round points victory over Nate Diaz in August. Following this triumph, both Paul and the PFL have proposed a rematch in the cage, offering up to £10 million.
Despite the potential rematch, Diaz has apparently shown no interest, and Brown believes he has good reason for his disinterest. In an interview with MMAFighting, Brown stated, "Jake Paul, I'm going to pick him to win. I'm going to pick him to beat Nate Diaz in MMA." Brown argues that Paul has already proven his boxing skills against Diaz and questions Diaz's ability to take him down in an MMA fight.
Size and Style Clash
Brown highlights the size difference between the two fighters, emphasizing that Paul is "way, way undersized" compared to Diaz. He also points out that Diaz is primarily an MMA boxer, pressuring opponents until they take him down and allowing him to showcase his jiu-jitsu game. However, Brown believes that Paul's background as a high school wrestler and his training for kicks, elbows, and knees will give him an advantage in a potential MMA rematch.
A Bad Matchup for Diaz
Brown explains that Diaz rarely throws elbows or kicks, making him susceptible to Paul's training in these areas. He believes that Diaz's style does not align well with Paul's skills, predicting that Diaz will be unable to take him down and highlighting Paul's dominance on the feet. Ultimately, Brown concludes that Diaz's chances of finishing Paul with a kick or elbow are slim, as it simply isn't his style.
It remains to be seen if the proposed rematch between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz will come to fruition. However, with Matt Brown backing Paul to win in an MMA clash, the anticipation for a potential rematch continues to grow.
