Jake Paul urged to fight KSI after Tommy Fury defeat as Eddie Hearn takes subtle swipe at both YouTubers

MATCHROOM Boxing chief Eddie Hearn has urged Jake Paul to fight fellow YouTube star KSI NEXT after losing via split decision to Tommy Fury.

Paul, 26, lost to boxing rival Fury, 23, in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Eddie Hearn says a fight between Jake Paul and KSI would be ‘massive’

Hearn says neither Paul or Fury are ‘very good’

Despite scoring a knockdown in the eighth and final round, Paul didn’t do enough to win on two out of three of the judges scorecards.

Paul claims he scooped up just over £24million for the fight.

The Problem Child is said to have a rematch clause – but Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn says Paul should fight KSI instead while taking a subtle swipe.

Speaking on DAZN, Hearn said: “The rematch, I know people will watch it, but we’ve seen what they are, not very good…

“Fight KSI, it’s absolutely massive.

“Because the reality is any time you fight anyone with any ability, you will get beat.”

Hearn continued: “I do respect Jake Paul and I respect him even more after last night.

“I mean look, he can’t fight, he’s never gonna be a world champion…

“What you had was two not very good fighters who were quite evenly matched.”

Hearn is no stranger to YouTube/influencer boxing having helped promote KSI and Logan Paul’s second fight.

Unlike Paul, KSI is yet to be beaten having competed in six fights.

The Brit’s last win came via knockout in January against Thomas Oliveira.

Former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, believes Paul did enough to beat Fury.

The former heavyweight champion, who came face-to-face with Tyson Fury – the man who dethroned him – while in the Middle East, told Fight Hub TV: “I think Jake got that one.

“It was an immature point. The referee is supposed to give him at least three warnings. He gave him no warnings.”

Asked again if Paul should have won, he replied: “I think so. With the knockdown, he sealed it. He got that point taken away.

“I think Jake Paul needed that knockdown, and when he did, it evened it out. I think he only gave it to Fury because of the point taken.”

Punching Techniques

There are seven kinds of punches: Left Hook, Right Hook, Uppercut, Cross, Straight, Overhand and Underhand. Each punch is unique. Some punches require greater strength than others. For example, an uppercut is a powerful punch. On the contrary, a straight punch takes less power but is faster than most punches.

There are also different combinations. These are combinations that combine punches to accomplish a particular goal. A combination may have multiple parts. An example of this is a left hook, followed by a right crossing. This will damage the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

Boxers protect themselves by protecting their bodies. He does this using his legs and arms, elbows as well as hands, knees and feet.

Legs

To defend against kicks, a boxer should use his legs. When he receives a kick, he raises his leg and moves away from the attacker. If the attack comes from the front, then he bends his knees to avoid being kicked on the side. He will block the kick with his foot if the attack is coming from behind.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very powerful because they inflict great pain. An elbow strike may be delivered directly or in an indirect manner. Directly, you strike your opponent with your forearm. Indirectly, you hit him with another portion of your arm.

Hands

Boxers use the power of their hands to block any incoming blows. To do this, they raise their fists higher than their heads and move their arms in the direction that the attack is coming. They then make contact with their attacker’s fist.

Knees

To absorb the impact of a punch to the stomach, abdomen, or chest, boxers should bend their knees. A lot of boxers use knee strikes to defend themselves.

Feet

If he is being attacked, a boxer must take a step back and counter-attack. This way, he can gain distance between himself and his opponent. In addition, when delivering a counter-attack, a boxer should keep his balance.

Stances

In order to box effectively, a boxer needs to establish a stance. His stance will determine how he defends. It determines where he will face his opponent and how he will position his body. There are many positions that boxers can adopt. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

The Body Movement

To win a fight, a fighter must move around the opponent. This involves changing positions, speed, rhythm and timing.

Rotation

Rotating his arm to increase the puncher’s reach is a key part of boxing. The rotation is done at different speeds depending on the type of punch.

Combinations

Timing of each punch is crucial to the effectiveness of a combination. A combination that is effective starts with a strong punch, and ends with one that is weak.

Spares

Sparring, a boxing practice session, is designed to improve your boxing skills. Sparring allows a boxer to improve his mental and physical skills. Sparring, in conclusion, is about learning how to fight and not getting hurt.

You need to have patience and dedication in order to learn how boxing works. To become a better boxer, you must train hard and for a long time.
