Kell Brook and Conor Benn pulled apart after almost coming to blows ringside ahead of historic Katie Taylor fight

SPARRING partners-turned rivals Kell Brook and Conor Benn were forced apart following a ringside clash in Ireland.

Both made the trip to Dublin for Katie Taylor’s homecoming fight against undisputed super-lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron.

And as Brook was being interviewed by Matchroom, Benn walked behind him.

And before long, Brook turned his attention to Benn causing a coming together between the two.

They went nose-to-nose before simultaneously pushing each other, sparking a brief shoving match.

Security were forced to intervene as the pair began exchanging words with tempers flaring.

Benn, 26, is currently fighting to prove his innocence following a failed drug test before his proposed catchweight bout with Chris Eubank Jr, 33, in October.

He failed Voluntary Anti-Doping Association tests but an investigation from the WBC found “no conclusive evidence” of deliberate cheating.

But the British Board of Boxing Control and United Kingdom Anti-Doping were at loggerheads with Benn.

The welterweight is not currently licensed by the BBBoC and faced moving his career abroad in order to return.

But Benn appears willing now to work with UKAD with the evidence he feels will prove his innocence.

Meanwhile Brook, 37, retired after beating arch rival Amir Khan, 36, in March 2022.

But he has continued to tease a comeback since and has held talks with promoter Eddie Hearn.

A leaked sparring session of the former IBF champion and Benn fuelled rumours of a potential all-British bout.

And their ringside fracas at the 3Arena has only intensified the possibility.

Punching Techniques

There are seven types of punches available: Left Hook and Right Hook, Cross, Cross, Straight, Underhand, Overhand, Cross, Straight, Cross, Straight, Cross, Straight, and Overhand. Each punch comes with its own technique. Some punches require greater strength than others. A strong uppercut for example requires a lot of force. A straight punch on the other side requires less power, but is more effective than other punches.

There are many combinations that can be used to punch. These are combinations that combine punches to accomplish a particular goal. One combination can have many parts. A left hook followed with a right-cross will cause injury to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer uses his body to protect himself against attacks. He does this using his legs and arms, elbows as well as hands, knees and feet.

Legs

To defend against kicks, a boxer should use his legs. If he gets kicked, he raises one leg and turns away from his attacker. If the attack comes from the front, then he bends his knees to avoid being kicked on the side. If the attack is from the side, he will bend his knees to avoid being kicked on the side.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very effective because they inflict much pain. You can deliver an elbow strike directly or indirectly. Directly means that you hit your opponent with your forearm while indirectly means that you hit him with another part of your arm.

Hands

Boxers use their arms to stop incoming blows. To do this, they raise their fists higher than their heads and move their arms in the direction that the attack is coming. Then, they touch the attacker’s hand.

Knees

Boxers should bend their knees when receiving blows to the abdomen, stomach, or chest. Knee strikes are often used for defense purposes.

Feet

Boxers should respond to being attacked by their opponent by standing back and delivering counter-attacks. This allows him to put distance between himself, his opponent, and the ring. Also, boxers must maintain their balance while delivering counter-attacks.

Stances

Boxing effectively requires a boxer to have a good stance. His stance determines how he defends himself. It is how he positions himself and where he faces the opponent. Boxers have many stances to choose from. These are some of our most favorite:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Moving your body

In order to win a fight, a boxer must move around his opponent. This involves changing positions, speed, rhythm and timing.

Rotation

To increase his punching power, a boxer rotates when he throws a punch. The rotation is done at different speeds depending on the type of punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch determines the effectiveness of a combination. A combination of strong and weak punches will produce a good result.

Sparring is a training session that improves boxing skills. A sparring session is where a boxer trains both his mind and his body. In conclusion, the purpose of sparring is to learn how to fight and not get hurt.
