Floyd Mayweather returned to the ring against Don Moore

Just before confirming his decision online, the British legend bumped into Mayweather in Dubai.

The meeting came only days before the American was set to make his return to the ring in an exhibition against Don Moore.

Mayweather went on to dominate his former sparring partner Moore over eight rounds in Abu Dhabi.

He told videographer azizdxb: “We saw the event today, I think Floyd needs a real challenge.

“We should do it, 100 per cent guys, let’s make it happen. I’m calling him out. Either hit me up or hit my brother up.”

Khan, 35, spent several of his prime years chasing a mega-fight with Mayweather, 45, only to be knocked back.

But when the pair came face-to-face once again, he was finally told the bout could be his.

“And I said ‘Brother, tomorrow I’m going to announce my retirement.’ And he goes ‘No, I don’t think you should’.

“Obviously, pro fighters say to you all your life ‘we should fight each other’ and they keep you on the side, on the bench and I’m like forget that man, I want to be in control of myself.

“When I call it a day, I call it a day. I don’t not call it a day because someone else is taking control like Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao say now we’ll fight you.

“Waiting around and waiting around for them so I thought nah man, I’ll do what’s best for me.”

Mayweather has competed in three exhibitions since retiring professionally in 2017 after beating the UFC’s Conor McGregor, 33.

The first was against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 23, in 2018 and then YouTuber Logan Paul, 27, last June.

But after cruising his way past Moore – even flooring his old friend – Mayweather confirmed he will box again this year.
