Marcus Luther, known for his appearances on Channel 4's Gogglebox, may be a household name, but his son Shiloh Defreitas is making headlines of his own as an up-and-coming boxer. While Luther and his wife Mica are Gogglebox legends, Defreitas had to explore other opportunities after being snubbed by the show's bosses.
Rejected by Gogglebox
Despite being originally considered for the series, Defreitas revealed in a recent interview with the BBC that his attempt to join Gogglebox didn't pan out. Luther candidly admitted that the show isn't for everyone, particularly because of Defreitas' aggressive nature. Despite the producers' efforts to assist him, the father-son duo often found themselves in heated arguments, ultimately leading to Defreitas' departure from the show.
Rising Boxing Prospect
While Gogglebox may not have been the right fit for Defreitas, his passion for boxing has propelled him to a 4-0 unbeaten record. The young boxer had a successful career as an amateur, representing England and training at the renowned Repton Boxing Club. Defreitas is currently coached by his father Marcus, who himself has a background in kickboxing and martial arts.
Family of Boxers
Boxing seems to run in the Luther family, as Marcus also trains his youngest son Yash, who is making waves as an amateur boxing sensation. Yash, along with his friend Dylan, has garnered attention on social media and is expected to have a bright future in the sport.
With his son's boxing career taking off, Marcus is excited to showcase his own skills beyond the Gogglebox sofa. Known for his appearances on billboards and even being asked for photos by the Covid testing lady at his son's weigh-in, Marcus Luther is ready to prove that he's more than just a reality TV star.
