He has also been seen walking with the aid of a wooden stick and Tyson revealed it is because he has sciatica.

In an interview with Newsmax TV Iron Mike said sciatica is the only health issue he suffers with, and spoke about how it impairs him when there is a flare up.

He said: “I have sciatica every now and then, it flares up. When it flares up, I can’t even talk! Thank God it’s the only health problem I have. I’m splendid now.

“Everybody in my house is truly blessed and we’re all very grateful for whatever we have.”

Sciatica is a condition that causes nerve irritation and seems to be affecting Tyson’s back.

Tyson retired from boxing in 2005 due to a back issue, while he also struggled with a knee injury late in his career.

Despite the issue Tyson returned to the ring in 2020 to fight Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition bout.

But recently there have been growing concerns over Tyson’s health – partly fuelled by his own comments.

He claimed on his Hotboxin’ podcast that he believes he is going to die “real soon”.

He said: “We’re all gonna die one day of course. Then, when I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face.

“I say, ‘Wow. That means my expiration date is coming close, really soon.'”

  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Moving your body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Sparring

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch has its own technique. Some punches require greater strength than others. An uppercut, for instance, requires tremendous strength. A straight punch on the other side requires less power, but is more effective than other punches.

There are many combinations of punches. These are combinations that combine punches to accomplish a particular goal. One combination can have many parts. A left hook followed with a right-cross will cause injury to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

Legs

Boxers should use their legs to defend against kicks. If he gets kicked, he raises one leg and turns away from his attacker. If the attacker is coming from the front, he will bend at the knees to avoid getting kicked on either side. But if the attack comes in the back, he will stand straight and block the kick using his foot.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very powerful because they inflict great pain. You can either deliver an elbow strike directly, or indirectly. Directly, you strike your opponent with your forearm. Indirectly, you hit him with another portion of your arm.

Hands

Boxers use both their hands and arms to prevent incoming blows. Boxers raise their fists to block incoming blows and then move in the direction of the attacker’s attack. Then they make contact with the attacker’s fist.

Knees

When receiving a blow to the stomach, abdomen or chest, a boxer should bend his knees to absorb the impact. For defense purposes, knee strikes are common.

Feet

If he is being attacked, a boxer must take a step back and counter-attack. This will help him gain distance from his opponent. In addition, when delivering a counter-attack, a boxer should keep his balance.

Stances

Boxing effectively requires a boxer to have a good stance. How he defends his self will depend on how he stances. It is how he positions himself and where he faces the opponent. Boxers can take many different stances. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Move your body

To win a fight, a fighter must move around the opponent. This includes changing speed, position and rhythm.

Rotation

To increase his punching power, a boxer rotates when he throws a punch. Depending on what punch is being thrown, the speed of rotation varies.

Combinations

Timing of each punch is crucial to the effectiveness of a combination. A combination is good if it starts with a strong punch then ends with a weaker one.

Spares

Sparring is a practice session designed to improve boxing skills . Boxers learn to train their mind and bodies during sparring sessions. Sparring is a way to learn how to fight without getting hurt.

It is important to be patient and dedicated when learning how to box. To become a better fighter, you have to train hard and continue to work.
