Mike Tyson vs Anthony Joshua tale of the tape: How heavyweight stars compare as Iron Mike backed to win world title

MIKE TYSON has said he is up for fighting a reigning heavyweight boxing champ in an exhibition.

The 54-year-old made his much-talked about comeback in the sport when he drew with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr in an eight-rounder.

Tyson showed off his sensational body transformation, but saw his heavy-hitting nullified by a wary Jones Jr who clinched and hugged his way through the scrap.

Speaking after the fight at the Staples Center in Las Vegas, Iron Mike hinted he fanced standing toe-toe-to with the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

He told BT Sport: “I think they’re brilliant. They’re brilliant fighters. They could do so much for society.

“They could have exhibitions and take the money from the exhibitions, because they’re such big crowd pleasers and they could help so many people.

“There’s so many people out there that we can do so much for, and it wouldn’t even be a 10th of their charitable heart to do something like that.

“In fact, fight exhibitions with me, and most of our charity would go to people who desperately need it.

“I want you to label them as exhibitions because there are no hard feelings.”

And another boxing Hall of Famer, George Foreman, who became the oldest heavyweight world champion at the age of 45 in 1994, incredibly predicted that Tyson could win a world title.

Speaking to USA Today Foreman, said: “If he gets in shape like he’s in now, and then gets his timing back, and all the other things fall into place, he can have an opportunity to fight for the title.

“If he can be managed right, a champion, the right champion, will come to him. And if the right one comes, he can knock him out.”

Joshua will be hoping to avoid another shock of Andy Ruiz Jr proportions when he defends his WBO, WBA and IBF world titles against Kubrat Pulev on December 12.

Whether or not the 31-year-old wants to shelve two prospective undisputed fights against Tyson Fury to enjoy a glorified spar with a man old enough to be his dad seems unlikely.
