OLEKSANDR USYK has confirmed he has started training camp for his June rematch with Anthony Joshua.

The 35-year-old Ukraine icon has left his besieged country, with the full support of his family and nation, to prepare to defend his WBA, IBF and WBO world titles.

Anthony Joshua had already been in camp

The former undisputed cruiserweight king is believed to have moved his team to the Czech Republic to train for the rerun of the September victory at Tottenham Stadium.

In a lengthy social media post crediting his devout dedication to his Orthodox faith, Usyk – who took up arms to defend his country against Russian invasion – wrote: “I would like to share the news with you that I have started preparing for the fight.”

The married father-of-three did suffer a bicep injury in the brilliant performance that robbed AJ of his belts.

And disgraced Tyson Fury sparring partner Jarrell Miller recently claimed he was still injured and tried to nominate himself as a credible replacement to face 32-year-old Joshua.

But fearless Usyk made it clear he is in prime condition for the return leg which looks set to land in Saudi Arabia.

He added: “I ask for your prayers and support to prepare with maximum commitment for the duel, to dignify the life of sporting obedience entrusted to me by God.

“And, through him, to glorify our mother Ukraine and give you all a beautiful second night.

“All will be God, all will be love and all will be Ukraine.”

Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk revealed a date and venue for the rematch could be announced in the next two weeks.

Krassyuk told Sky Sports: “Within the next two weeks we expect to finalise details.”

He continued: “This location is under discussion at the moment. Late June is also the timing we are considering now.

“Many things will depend on how fast we manage to ink the papers.

“The good thing is that Usyk is already in Europe to start his preparation.”
