And he was spotted enjoying the action alongside Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn from the front row throughout the night.

But both he and the raucous home crowd were left deflated as Taylor fought on home soil for the first time in her professional career.

And she did so in a scintillating affair with Cameron, which was end-to-end action from the bell.

But after ten thrilling rounds, two judges scored in favour of Cameron, with one failing to separate the pair.

It meant Taylor, who moved up to super-lightweight, tasted defeat for the first time in her career.

Footage has now emerged of McGregor reacting to the result and as the words “and still” were read out to confirm Cameron’s triumph, the UFC star was seen slumping and putting his hands on his head next to the ring.

However, he soon regained his composure to go and console Taylor before then telling reporters: “Great fight, close fight, I had it a draw.”

McGregor was then asked if he wanted to see the rematch at Croke Park, which he replied: “Yeah, yes I f***ing would.

“She went up in weight at the drop of a hat. She was scheduled for one different style of opponent at a specific weight and that fell through.

“So last minute what does Katie do? The warrior that’s in her? She gave me something to aspire to!

“She wanted to go up in weight and fight the champion in the heavier weight at the drop of a hat.

“Give her a chance to do it at Croke Park, for sure Croke Park is on.

“It was a close bout, the size was prevalent but Katie is a tactician, give Katie another bash at that.”

And when asked what message he had for his compatriot, McGregor added: “Keep your head up, you’re the champion, you’re the Olympic champion and you’re the world champion still in your division.”

How to box effectively

Boxing is a popular sport. It is a fight between two opponents. Different countries have different rules. There are three types: Amateur, Professional, or Olympic boxing.

Amateur boxing usually takes place at school, college and university. This type of boxing includes sparring sessions with padded gloves and without any protection. Amateur boxing competitions usually last three rounds and last five minutes each. There are many different styles of amateur boxing including Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Wrestling and others.

Olympic boxing can be seen at the Olympics. Boxers are required to wear international standards-compliant protective gear. The competition lasts for eight rounds, each lasting three minutes. Olympic boxing has only two styles, Light Flyweight vs Heavyweight.

The basic skills of boxing are:

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • The body moves
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types: Left Hook (right hook), Right Hook (uppercut), Cross (cross), Straight, Overhand, Underhand. Each punch has its own technique. Some punches need more power than others. An example of this is an uppercut, which requires tremendous force. On the other hand, a straight punch requires less power but it is faster than other punches.

There are many combinations that can be used to punch. These are combinations made up of several punches that can be used together to achieve one goal. A combination may have multiple parts. For example, a left hook followed by a right cross will cause damage to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

To defend himself from being attacked, a boxer uses his entire body. He does this by using his legs.

Legs

Boxers should use the legs to protect themselves against kicks. When he receives a kick, he raises his leg and moves away from the attacker. If the attacker is coming from the front, he will bend at the knees to avoid getting kicked on either side. If the attack comes from behind, however, he can stand straight up and block the kick by his foot.

Elbows

Elbow strikes are very effective because they inflict much pain. An elbow strike can be delivered either directly or indirectly. Directly means you hit your opponent directly with your forearm. While indirectly, it means you hit him with another section of your arm.

Hands

Boxers use their hands as a shield against incoming punches. Boxers use their hands to stop incoming punches. They raise their fists up above their heads and move towards the attack. The attacker’s fist is then in their face.

Knees

Boxers should bend their knees when receiving blows to the abdomen, stomach, or chest. Defense purposes are often served by knee strikes.

Feet

A boxer should not be afraid to respond to an attack. This way, he can gain distance between himself and his opponent. A boxer must also maintain his balance when responding to an opponent’s counter-attack.

Stances

In order to box effectively, a boxer needs to establish a stance. The way he defends him will be dictated by his stance. It defines where he faces his opponent and how he positions his body. There are many stances available to boxers. These are the most popular:

  • A low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Moving your body

To win a fight, a fighter must move around the opponent. This requires changing your position, speed, and rhythm.

Rotation

Boxers rotate their arms when they throw a punch. The rotation is done at different speeds depending on the type of punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch will determine the effectiveness and efficiency of a combination. A combination that works well starts with strong punches and ends with weak ones is a winning combination.

Spares

Sparring is a practice session designed to improve boxing skills . Boxers learn to train their mind and bodies during sparring sessions. Sparring is a way to learn how to fight without getting hurt.

In conclusion, learning to box requires dedication and patience. To become a better fighter, you have to train hard and continue to work.
