Bjornsson dropped Hall twice on his way to earning a unanimous decision victory, in which he showed good technique on the odd occasion.

And the Icelandic giant poked fun at his former pal with a video of himself dropping The Beast with a solid straight left.

Bjornsson’s accompanying caption read: “I guess technique DOES matter. Who knew.”

The 33-year-old’s legion of followers were quick to comment, with one saying: “Bro I’m not even gonna lie, I was very impressed with your straight punches.”

A dejected Hall reflected on the disappointing defeat on Instagram this morning, saying: “You know what, I can take things as a man. It is what it is, that’s boxing.

“At the end of the day, I’ve just fought the biggest man on the planet in a boxing match.

“I’d like to see anyone else get the balls and do that.

“It’s been a hell of a journey; I’ve enjoyed it and hopefully there’s a rematch and we can do business again.
