Tommy Fury slams Jake Paul for calling out UFC stars and says Tyron Woodley rematch was ‘a hug battle’ before brutal KO

TOMMY FURY reckons Jake Paul’s sickening one-shot knockout of Tyron Woodley masked an embarrassing fight that was mocked by the in-house commentary.

The 22-year-old Brit should have been in the ring with the YouTube star last Saturday night, before a chest infection and broken rib forced him out of the showdown.

Ex-UFC welterweight Woodley jumped in for a rematch – up at the cruiserweight limit – and was ruthlessly face-planted in round six after a very slow start.

And Love Island hunk Fury claims he heard Paul’s own commentary team on the Fite.TV broadcast mocking how poor the action was for the opening five rounds before the KO.

Coughing through his Unibet Lowdown interview, Fury said: “You are in a bad place when the commentator for your own show says ‘this is getting pretty hard to watch now’.

“The commentator was joking ‘who won that round?’ because the answer was nobody.

“I was watching it and it was very upsetting because if I had been in there it would not have gone six rounds

“The first four or five they didn’t throw anything, it was just wrestling.

“The KO was a nice punch but it was from a 14st guy against a bloke with his hands down.

“Woodley didn’t have much notice because I had to pull out very late, so he didn’t have anything like a proper camp and still took it six rounds despite Paul training for months and months.”

Despite Paul insisting he is on course to become a bonafide boxing world champion, he has already called out another selection of veteran MMA fighters whose prime years came in weight classes way below him.

Nate Niaz and Jorge Masvidal seem the two most likely candidates and Fury insists that proves his foray into boxing is still smoke and mirrors.

He said: “I see he has gone back to calling out all these MMA people, I don’t see what he is trying to achieve by calling out UFC people.

“If he wants to be a boxer, then fight a boxer. He keeps fighting wrestlings who would kill him in a cage every day of the week.

“He would beat Nate Diaz and all these other MMA fighters (in a boxing bout) 100 per cent, because they are not boxers.

“He looked better in his last fight against Wooldey, this fight he did nothing. The first five rounds were a hug battle.”
