Tyson Fury mocks Eddie Hearn over not getting cut of Dillian Whyte’s £6m purse bid ahead of huge PPV fight

TYSON FURY mocked Eddie Hearn for not getting a cut of Dillian Whyte’s purse ahead of their massive all-British showdown.

Hearn failed with a £23.6million bid to stage the WBC mandatory title fight between Whyte and Fury, now set for April 23 in Cardiff.

And instead, rival promoter Frank Warren won the rights with a historic £30.6m offer.

With Whyte not contractually signed to Hearn – instead starring on Matchroom bills fight-by-fight – it is believed he does not have to share any of his earnings.

So Fury, promoted by Warren and US legend Bob Arum, took the chance to goad Hearn.

He posted a picture of the Matchroom boss old and grey with Warren sporting a baby face.

Fury, 33, captioned the meme: “Since the purse bids. After @DillianWhyte tells Eddie that he is not getting a cut of his purse.”

The WBC announced before the purse bids that Whyte, 33, would only receive a 20 per cent cut.

But the the No1 contender argued his ‘interim’ title should guarantee him up to 45 per cent and is currently in the process of appealing the split.

So with Hearn faced with the prospect of handing Fury 80 per cent of his bid, he refused to let his ego rule and pay over the odds.

He told The MMA Hour: “We would have lost a lot of money and [Fury] probably wouldn’t have taken the fight.

“Of course I’d like to have promoted the fight, but you have to put a number which you’re prepared to lose.

“The minute you start acting on ego is the minute you make a catastrophic error which could cost you millions of dollars. I don’t play that game.

“I back our guys but to a point where we understand the business.

“If you start going in with your d*** and you’re bidding £10million over the number, and you finish the show and look at the bottom line and you’ve done £5-£10 million, well done, that’s great business!

“If we didn’t turn up they would have saved millions of dollars as the only bidder.”
