Olympic boxing is done at the Olympics. Boxers are required to wear international standards-compliant protective gear. Each round lasts three minutes and is made up of eight rounds. Olympic boxing is limited to two styles: Light Flyweight and Heavyweight.

The basic skills of boxing are:

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Moving your body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spares

Punching Techniques

There are seven types. Each punch is unique. Some punches need more power than others. A strong uppercut for example requires a lot of force. A straight punch on the other side requires less power, but is more effective than other punches.

There are also various punching combinations. These are combinations made up of several punches that can be used together to achieve one goal. One combination can have many parts. For example, a combination of a left and right hook will result in damage to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

A boxer uses his body to protect himself against attacks. He uses his arms, legs, elbows, knees, knees, and feet to do this.

Legs

Boxers should use their legs to defend against kicks. When he’s hit, he raises his right leg and runs away from the attacker. To avoid being kicked on the sides, he bends at his knees when the attacker strikes from the front. If the attack is from the side, he will bend his knees to avoid being kicked on the side.

Elbows

Because elbow strikes inflict a lot of pain, they are very effective. An elbow strike can be delivered directly or indirectly. Directly refers to hitting your opponent with the forearm, while indirect means you hit him using another part of your arms.

Hands

Boxers use their hands to block incoming blows. To do so, they raise their fists above their head and move them towards the direction of the attack. Then they make contact with the attacker’s fist.

Knees

When receiving a blow to the stomach, abdomen or chest, a boxer should bend his knees to absorb the impact. Knee strikes can be used to defend yourself.

Feet

A boxer should take control of an attack and respond with counter-attacks. He can then gain distance from his opponent. In addition, when delivering a counter-attack, a boxer should keep his balance.

Stances

In order to box effectively, a boxer needs to establish a stance. His stance will determine how he defends. It determines where he will face his opponent and how he will position his body. There are many positions that boxers can adopt. These are some of our most favorite:

  • A low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Moving your body

A boxer must be able to move around his opponent in order to win a fight. This involves changing position, speed and rhythm.

Rotation

Rotating his arm to increase the puncher’s reach is a key part of boxing. You can rotate at different speeds depending upon the punch.

Combinations

The timing of each punch determines the effectiveness of a combination. A combination that is effective starts with a strong punch, and ends with one that is weak.

Sparring

Sparring is a training session that improves boxing skills. Sparring allows a boxer to improve his mental and physical skills. The purpose of sparring is, in short, to learn how fight and not get hurt.

To sum it all, boxing requires patience and dedication. Boxing is a sport that requires dedication and perseverance.
