Tyson Fury starts training camp for Oleksandr Usyk after pair finally agree terms for huge world title unification fight

TYSON FURY has started his undisputed OIeksandr Usyk training camp after the Ukraine legend called his bluff.

On Friday night the 36-year-old WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champ accepted the WBC Gypsy King’s stingy 70-30 offer to agree to their April 29 Wembley showdown.

But the London 2012 gold winner demanded Fury, 34, donate £1million to help his brave nation fight back Russian invaders, as part of the deal.

Fury took to Morecambe Bay for a run on Saturday and confirmed the countdown to the four-belt decider is ON.

But the money-loving showman refused to mention the seven-figure donation he committed to, by forcing Usyk to accept such a slim slice of the pie.

While jogging alongside the sea, he said: “Today is the first day of my training for the Usyk fight.

“I don’t need six months or four months, I just have six weeks and a week’s rest, done, happy days.

“I am going to impose my will on this little, sneaky mother f***er.”

Failing to read the mood of the UK – who have thrown their support behind Ukraine in their hour of need – Fury tried to make it a fight for national pride.

The undefeated 6ft 9in ace roared: “Get up lads. I cannot wait. Rule Britannia!”

Like Anthony Joshua – who lost his titles after back-to-back losses to Usyk – Fury will struggle to find sparring partners to match-up to and imitate the 6ft 3in southpaw.

He has flown in his New Zealand pal Joseph Parker – who will have to ditch his usual orthodox stance if he is to be any use.

And he has former Marine and expert sports chef George Lockhart living with him preparing meals to fuel him.

On the steps of his Lancashire mansion, Fury added: “I have flown my good buddy and brother Joseph Parker in for sparring, we will do 10-12 rounds today.

“George Lockhart has already been here a couple of days so we are ready to rock and roll.

“Usyk, you are on a warning, you’re on notice, six weeks sucker, we are coming for you!”

Channeling his inner gladiator he bellowed: “Sparta!”

  • Punching techniques
  • Guarding techniques
  • Footwork
  • Stance
  • Movement of the body
  • Defense
  • Combination
  • Rotation
  • Spare parts

Punching Techniques

There are seven types: Left Hook (right hook), Right Hook (uppercut), Cross (cross), Straight, Overhand, Underhand. Each punch is unique. Some punches require more strength than others. For example, an uppercut is a powerful punch. On the other hand, a straight punch requires less power but it is faster than other punches.

There are also many combinations. These are combinations which combine several punches in order to achieve a specific goal. An entire combination could have several parts. For example, a left hook followed by a right cross will cause damage to the opponent’s jaw.

Guard Techniques

To defend himself from being attacked, a boxer uses his entire body. He does this by using his legs, arms, elbows, hands, knees and feet.

Legs

Boxers should use their legs to defend against kicks. If he gets kicked, he raises one leg and turns away from his attacker. If the attacker is coming from the front, he will bend at the knees to avoid getting kicked on either side. If the attack is from the side, he will bend his knees to avoid being kicked on the side.

Elbows

Because they inflict pain, elbow strikes can be very effective. You can deliver an elbow strike directly or indirectly. Directly refers to hitting your opponent with the forearm, while indirect means you hit him using another part of your arms.

Hands

Boxers use their hands to block incoming blows. Boxers use their hands to stop incoming punches. They raise their fists up above their heads and move towards the attack. The attacker’s fist is then in their face.

Knees

When receiving a blow to the stomach, abdomen or chest, a boxer should bend his knees to absorb the impact. Knee strikes are often used for defense purposes.

Feet

A boxer should take control of an attack and respond with counter-attacks. This will help him gain distance from his opponent. A boxer must also maintain his balance when responding to an opponent’s counter-attack.

Stances

In order to box effectively, a boxer needs to establish a stance. The way he defends him will be dictated by his stance. It defines where he faces his opponent and how he positions his body. There are many stances available to boxers. Here are the most commonly used ones:

  • Low stance
  • High stance
  • Southpaw stance
  • Western stance

Body Movement

In order to win a fight, a boxer must move around his opponent. This includes changing speed, position and rhythm.

Rotation

Boxers rotate their arms when they throw a punch. Depending on the type and size of punch, the speed at which the rotation takes place varies.

Combinations

The timing of each punch will determine the effectiveness and efficiency of a combination. A combination that works well starts with strong punches and ends with weak ones is a winning combination.
